So, how about a Boss Rush queue?

Basically a duty finder playlist where you just run through the final bosses of each dungeon (You could even divide it by area or 'difficulty' of the original dungeon).

Scale the fights to level 50 (Not sure what i-level they'd use) and force a restart if you wipe on any of the bosses.

They had 2 of these of sorts in 1.23. Skirmish, and were some pretty badass fights. One was a gauntlet where if you didn't kill the bosses quick enough you'd be overrun with them, and the other you had to go to the bosses, most of which were alternate versions of various mid/hi-lvl NMs that're in FATEs we have right now.

Most of the time I find bosses are the only interesting things in a raid anyway. Make it interesting, if you wipe you have to start from the beginning.

I hope SE bring Skirmish again to FF XIV.

This sounds cool. There are other games that have challenge modes, which include things like having to fight through every enemy in the game in order of difficulty. Fail once and you start over. I think SE would do well to add challenge modes.

Yep, skirmish from 1.0 is exactly what you are asking for. It dropped weapons that were equivalent or better than Garuda weapons after you melded them (melding was different in 1.0 so you could have +40 int on top of base stats) and garuda weapons were top besides relics. It wasn't really a dungeon to test your skills as much as a way to train newer players how to do the boss fights in the lvl 50 dungeons. If you were already geared they were pretty easy to do so I guess it isn't exactly what you are asking for.

I totally forgot about skirmish! Not sure if it's coming back soon since it looks like the Giantsgall weapons that it used to drop are becoming PvP weapons.
