Gathering XP Calculator

Friends and Fellow Gatherers,

Recently I finished a project I would like to share with the community- an Excel based Gathering XP Calculator. With user input, the calculator will output the average amount of xp gained per gathering node. This allows for comparison between different "gather-able" materials, showing which material should be gathered for maximum efficiency while leveling/grinding.

The formula used assumes any 4-attempt gathering node, and works regardless of character level, gear, or node level because it relies solely on %'s and "base XP".

My intended use for the calculator was to help answer questions and determine things like:
--When is it worth it to move on to the next level node
--Which material should I gather if they both sell for the same amount
--Which skills net more XP/hour (+G% vs +HQ%)
And for the most part, I am satisfied with my work thus far. I had plans to add results for +1 Attempt nodes, as well as add a Money tab, allowing for people to enter MB prices for items, so they could gather strictly with the monetary value in mind. But I haven't yet decided if I'm going to continue working on it. Again, if there are any problems with the files, links, or even the formula, please let me know. Below is an example of how to use the calculator in case my brief instructions on the excel sheet are well, too brief.

Usage Walkthrough:

Example 1 - Lv 15 Mineral Deposit (Iron Ore and Water Shard)

Enter the Gathering% and HQ% in their respective places in the calculator.

(I made the calc with 8 slots to replicate the format of the Gathering Window so materials can be entered into their in-game slot to reduce confusion of results, but ultimately, the slots used do not affect the results. Just do whatever is easiest)

Find Base XP of the material(s).

(As stated on the calc instructions, Base XP is the flat XP gained without bonuses. One thing to note: closing the gathering window after a successful attempt resets the chain counter. This can be handy if you're wanting to get base xp values for multiple materials from the same node)

Enter the XP values and compare the results.

(Note: after typing the last value in the calc, make sure you hit Enter, Tab, or manually select another cell with the mouse.. the calc doesn't update values on a cell it thinks you're still working on)
--Some clarification on the Icons used for quick comparison. The green "check-mark" shows the highest xp per node result. The yellow "!" shows any material that gives xp within 25% of the max for the results. Any result that gives less than 75% of the max xp shows as the red "X".

One final thing, as a disclaimer... Remember, the icons and results only refer to what you've entered into the calc. "Max XP" refers to maximum xp gain based on the entered information. It does not give a be-all-end-all result. If game data changes (leveling up, new gear, etc), the results will need to be recalculated with the new correct values. The calculator is best used "in a vacuum" when comparing two or more materials, or comparing differences in xp with skill usage.
