I need to say very little in regards to this video. The game is Guild Wars 2 and will pose a major threat to FFXIV if the team does not open their eyes and minds to their competitors and modern gaming requirements.

This is what players want. Immersive, Dynamic and Massive gameplay that they can interact with their friends through.

Guild Wars 2, just like the original Guild Wars will most likely be initial purchase and free to play afterwards.

If you want our money for playing a subpar FFXI remake then you're going to have to step your game up and exceed that vision.

We know you can do it Yoshi P. Don't let us down man!

After reviewing the video you posted, all the elements being showed are definitely things that SE can do for FFXIV. the only problem is due to the current status of the game and due to development and producer changes, something's like that video is a vision that SE should strive for. watching videos such as those, show what a really good development team can do with world bosses - and in this case a dragon.

FFXIV is a next gen game in which this can be done successfully. we just don't know if Yoshi P is really willing to push his team to that extreme to accomplish something of this scale. I know they CAN do this but with the current way this game is rolling, this may take a few months or even years to complete.

The only thing we can do is wait and see results of what is about to come. Yoshi P is fixing all the problems since the time he took over this project. All I will say at this time is that they need to have content such as this; battles that require more organization. We need to go back to 24 man alliances and mobs should not be easy to kill. If you complain it is too difficult just remember - in FFXI the expansion chains of Promethia IT WAS NOT EASY when it first released. The battles were hard but when you completed each mission, you felt a great sense of accomplishment.

Right now everything is easy. There is nothing hard in this game. This next patch to be released will make or break the game. The only challenge I am putting on the table is that you need to step your game up as there are many more companies coming after the people that really don't know what game they want to play. I have a lot of faith in the team and in you Yoshi P. This light tank and spank content is not going to cut it on a next gen game. Hopefully with the video that was just posted, you'll see what type of content most of us are looking for. Things need to be EPIC as this is what you will be remembered for. Therefore, I look forward to seeing the rabbit that you are about to pull out of the magic hat and leave every single player shocked and amazed.

Just keep us informed about what the dev team is doing.....more pictures.....please. Other than that, we will all be waiting to see what the new FFXI will be.

I really don't see SE pulling anything like that off at least in the short term. I expect the content we do get to be extremely cookie cutter and basic while they continue to iron out the system revamps over the next year plus. I think people are going to be extremely disappointed if you expect these dungeons to be anything on the level of Dynamis, Limbus or resemble something as extravagant as WoW's 5 mans.

Right now the engine is just so bad to do anything crazy with this intricate content that everyone is dying for, it will take multiple updates spanning across months for them to even bring it up to par. I'm not being a negative nancy, flaming, trolling, its being realistic at best.

I think people are going to be severely disappointed with wanting "difficult content" that only few guilds per server can clear, I just don't see SE going that route this time around especially during a complete revamp of the game.

My forecast on what we'll see from here on out at least the short term is:

- Basic content, nothing mind blowing.
- Continue to balance the game
- Making adjustments to the grind, easier leveling of both craft and DoW/M/L.
- System improvements.

Its not on the scale of GW2 pve but even tera in beta stage partying is better then the bland stuff xiv has
far more skill involved.

Logically yes, that would be the timescale.

This thread's intent is to raise awareness of what users/subscribers would like to see in the future.

It isn't a flame at SE or anything of that nature. It is more of a motivator.

Square Enix has to choose if they want to be a world leader in quality and value like the makers of Guild Wars are happy to be if SE doesn't want it, or if they want to keep producing low production value, high profit margin games like The World Ends With You and more iphone games.

Square Enix has adopted NASA's "cheaper faster...just as good" strategy, but unlike NASA who has had great successes with that mantra, all of Square Enix's products have fallen off cliffs or forgotten to carry the 1.

And all that's left are products that are just...missing big somethings. If TWEWY feels like it's missing something epic...hello. It's not a RPG. It's a text adventure with a battle engine.

You can't cut corners like that forever. TWEWY is a good product. It is not a good long term strategy.

And that strategy, I fear, comes straight from the president of SE. You can't keep lowering production value like this. Guild Wars isn't. No one else is.

Really good point.
Square Enix needs to keep this quality across ALL of their products, this provides consistency and trust can follow. It just seems of late that Square Enix have fallen off the end trying to spread themselves too thinly with greedy hands. This concept is backwards and definatly not future proof. Production quality ALWAYS has to come first and if your on the ball the rest will naturally follow.
Please dont make us have to drop the post ''We'll go Guild Wars 2/better mmo and save you guys (Square Enix) the hassle and stress of good production quality so that you can concentrate on your money problems'' (Kind of backwards eh!? 0.o)

Bear in mind this is a progressively saturated/faster market and you don't get 2nd/3rd chances compared to 8 years ago.
