Speen runs and WHM

Hello, can you guys give me some insight on Speed runs?
I've run quite a few even before I got my relic +1 but I feel something is always wrong, as we dont complete it as fast. I read I should get on Cleric Stance and spam holy+swift cast, never tried it yet, I fear the whole hell may break loose.

Would you mind sharing your thoughts on WP SR? Any particular gimmick or hint you think is good to share?

There's no real "trick" to speed running on a Whm. Comes down to several things.
1. How good is your tank and do they know how to pull correctly and do the Lockouts correctly
2. How good are you? Can you heal through 1,2,3,4 packs of mobs at one time?
3. Can do you do all that PLUS heal?
4. How can you heal without getting agro

Takes a bit of practice but the hardest part for me was learning when I could heal and how much I could heal while doing the long drawn out pulls. Sometimes I'll swiftcast a second Stoneskin once I've seen it come off, that generally won't pull agro especially after they've flashed.

Fastest speed run i've personally been apart of was 14ish minutes. i'm a Allagan Chest, +1, Rest DL. We did the first leg in 2 pulls locking out the majority of the second pull using sleep method. I use at least 1-2 Holy's during those pulls mainly for a Stun to give the tank a chance to build some agro and give me a chacne to get heals.

The largest thing really though that's going to play into speed of your run is experience of HOW to properly pull. Gear is important of course, can't speed run if you can't heal them. But experience will always trump gear to an extent

Throw out 2-3 holy is fine, since mobs will get stunned, but anymore than that can be dangerous depends on tank's gear.
Stoneskin before the but pull.
Use Diving Seal and Cure II to top off tank followed by a Regen.
Then Cleric Stance + Swiftcase + Holy.
When tank start to drop health, turn off Cleric Stance and spam Cure II, usually you won't have chance, or not needed to use more Holy.

I'm a BLM as my main class and CNJ as my 2nd and I've noticed a huge difference as a healer when we have a THM/BLM in a group that uses sleep. I ran a dungeon back to back with a THM in the 2nd one and I didn't have to heal the tank probably half of what I did during the first run so I was able to DPS quite a bit.

to the OP....I would air on the side of caution as it's you having to heal them, if someone wakes up the sleeping mob then ask them to stop. I personally have only had one player tell me he wasn't going to stop his AoE attack and that run was a bit harder than all the others. I'm a dungeon grinder so I run a lot of dungeons.

A few things I've found to be helpful:

1) I open with Swiftcast + Stoneskin while the tank sets up, followed by regen. It'll buy you a few seconds to determine what buffs the tank is using etc. and you can adapt accordingly. For example, if the tank pops convalescence, I'll typically hold off on Divine seal until his wears.

2) Should for any reason another party member get hate during the pulls, I'll typically toss out a regen on them. Reason being, it focuses the damage on myself and the tank for the short term, which is more manageable (for me).

3) Holy is great for WP. I'll top up the tank, and then drop Stoneskin on him/her. Then I cycle cleric stance, and spam 3-4 Holy's, I'll then drop cleric stance and return to healing. Holy is a stun, and basically it mitigates all damage.

4) Use Virus prior to the second "Grudge" on the King.

5) Use Eye for an Eye prior to pulls.

6) Use Holy when the slimes spawn on the second boss.

I know how you feel about Holy spam, I've had that trouble before when I was new to speed runs and started a thread about it too.

Anyway, people have already given some sound advice in this thread. All you need is practice. Remember that Holy gives stun, which will actually free up some healing time for you.

Just spam Holy, it's not difficult.

Depends on the party. Personally I DS Regen, Swiftcast Holy and then spam Holy some more.

If the party is well geared and good then everything will be dead before the tank is, if not you'll probably need to stop after a few and throw some cures since the stun effect doesn't work after Holy #3.

Don't be afraid to use Benediction if you find you've casted one too many Holy spells.

Ok, people have this backwards, as I did before! You don't heal then holy, you holy first, then heal. The stun allows you to recover in time to heal the tank.
I just learned yesterday with an experienced group member telling me what I had to do as WHM. I'm just normal relic no +1 , only DL chest + wrist everything else is AK gear, as tank's my main ^_^. We were doing 11-12 minute clears without manasong.

Cleric stance up, run in just behind tank. Swiftcast and Holy x2 or x3 depending on your comfort level with tank, pop Seal, remove Cleric, Cure II, Regen, then do the Cure, Cure, Cure II rotation, or Cure, Cure II, Cure II if tank's taking too many spikes. Enjoy!

That is incorrect.

1. The Tank takes sufficient damage per pull before it is stabilised, giving you a smaller buffer for Holy spam, therefore less Holys.
2. Divine Seal'd Regen provides an even bigger buffer for your Holys.

All casting Holy at the beginning does is guarantee you'll cast fewer Holys.
