Question on 5 melds

I have a blm hat that I want to 5 meld, but the materia is extremely expensive. So I was wondering if anyone knew the best order and materia to meld my hat. The only way for me to actually know is to buy the materia and then check. Or if theres a site somewhere that has this info that'd be great.

The best order is to meld the most expensive (highest-tier) materia first. The meld chances get worse and worse as you continue to meld, so your wallet will hate you far less if you do that.

Now, are you asking about what specific materia you should be melding?

Yea the materia in specific. I do some crafting and I notice that some materia has reduced stats, so it's not just sticking in all level 4 int materia. How many int IV can i put in until I meld for other stuff? Is it worth melding int III over the crit IV?

Which item specifically do you want to meld? Keep in mind that high level HQ items tend to come capped on the primary stat - so you probably cannot meld ANY int materia effectively.

Assuming the item is HQ, INT, MND, VIT, and Determination are capped on the item. It can hold +7 more crit, according to xivdb, so that leaves your options as PIE/Spell Speed/Accuracy/someCrit. I'm not a career BLM, so I won't comment on your best options.

I just did one last week. The caps on the HQ are: +7 PIE, +16 SPS, +7 CRT and at least +11 ACC. You can't get them all with 5 meld so make your choice.
