Automatic Statpoint Distribution

Hey all,

Was recently reading the results of the 2nd players poll and I believe one of the topics that needs to be touched on a bit more is the bonus point allotment system.

I think it's a good system but people can take too much advantage of things and it really makes stat bonuses from armor and food almost worth nothing or very little at best. I think things would be a bit better in Eorzea if physical level was removed and there was an automatic stat distribution based on what rank you are. This would allow enhanced class differentiation such as Paladin having higher Vit than other classes to support tanking, melee classes have more strength, etc.

Also I think rank name should be changed to Job Level.

I'm all for the mass changes in Eorzea to make things better and I feel that this would be one of those things that most people would enjoy and as previously said it would be a great way to differentiate the classes.

Hopefully others feel the same way.

I don't like the idea of automatic distribution. I'd prefer seperate stat distribution for each class seperately based on rnk.
This would combine the freedom to play how you like with ease to switch classes without having to reassign everytime (which is painfully slow).
I'm not only talking about DoW and DoM classes, but also DoL and DoH whitch also need specific stats.

I have to agree with Lilith. I would prefer to remove the Physical Level and have each class have it's own separate stat point allotment that we can assign the points into the stats ourselves. The individual allotments for each class should be saved so we can switch between the classes without having to redistribute our points.

The reason I'm not a fan of automatic point assigning is because I'm a Dunesfolk Lalafell, and because of my starting stats, I would not be a "preferred" tank solely because of my chosen race.

Why not add a merit system then when you get to rank 50 like FFXI? This way you can continue to develop your characters stats. I understand where you're coming from Shift but that's the whole point is to have differences with the characters. You would just have slightly less VIT than other races of which you could make up for with gear, food, merits or a combination of all the above.

People like the freedom to select stats for their characters based on what they choose to play. Automatic stats are fairly boring. Being able to select stats for each class you choose to play is a good idea because then you don't have to deal with point reallocation which is a huge time sink currently but you still get that freedom of customization.

Either let us reallocate ALL of our points (and choose not to reallocate elemental resistances) or "save" stat amounts for each job (ex. change to WVR, all DEX/MND, change to MRD, all VIT/STR)

We should also be able to increase and decrease stats by 10s and 100s (not just +1, +1, +1, +1, pressing one button over and over 200+ times...)

I was fully for the complete removal of Physical Levels, I think that distribution should entirely be based upon current Rank.. The current system only serves to make it unfair and it promotes elitism.. Why should, out of armor, a level 50 rank 1 have a bigger play advantage over a level 1 rank 1?

This system is perverse to me and following any other course than to completely remove the P. Level system is just BIZARRE.

Either have Automatic stats for the Class, Based on Physical Level, or keep the same system. It's so easy to get to Physical level 50 anyways. Can't be having people being able to have their stats at cap for whatever class they are using. I thought this was the idea of specializing in one class, or being pretty good in a bunch of classes. Otherwise people will be able to specialize in a bunch of classes, all the time.

The entire stat and battle systems need an overhaul.

The problem is this: the current stat system is awful because it basically takes away the freedom the armory system was supposed to grant us by only allowing us to be good at one class at time, meaning that the mage can't become the tank at the drop of a hat (which is one of the features it touted).

On the other end of the spectrum, with auto point distribution, someone who has leveled all classes to 50 is the ultimate player. There's no real uniqueness at that point because having every class to 50 means you ARE the best at everything.

But none of this matters until they get class uniqueness figured out. Until they better define class roles, nothing else matters because we don't yet have a basis of comparison.

Even WITH a customizable stat chart for every class, what would the differences between two players of the same class be? There's usually an "optimal" build for a class so we wouldn't see much variety.

Like I said, the whole thing needs to be redone before we can have any meaningful discussion on it, and I think Yoshi-P is doing that right now.
