Accidently deleting gear...?

Is there a way to not accidently delete gear at npc's?
It seems overly complicated to see what gear my miner/blacksmith/war is wearing and have sold their armor/weapon/tool making it impossible to load them up when their gear is missing.
Can we not lock gear down to prevent it from being sold? It seems the only way to track what is being worn is by writing down all the stuff...

Um.. yep. Pretty much write it down or find some other manual means of keeping track. We all wish equipped gear was tagged somehow so we wouldn't make this mistake.

If this is a problem for you, I'd suggest changing your options so that gear is not automatically placed into your Armory Chest. That way, you'll know that any gear in your Armory Chest is something that you wear, and you should not sell it. If something is in your inventory, you'll know that you just picked it up and can either place it in your Armory Chest manually if you're going to wear it, or sell it from your inventory.

Look under your System Configuration menu. It's a box you can check/uncheck.

I do it the other way round. When I upgrade an armor I put the piece I took off into inventory so I know any armor in there is finished with. Then just only ever sell from inventory.

It's on the list of UI improvements that they're planning to make, but apparently won't make it in time for update 2.1. It'll be sometime after that, though I don't know how long after:

In the meantime, until that's out (whenever that is), the way AesirTyr and Leyra suggested of sorting out stuff you still use in the Armory Chest and stuff you don't in Inventory is probably the best way to avoid accidentally selling the wrong thing. It does require periodically cleaning them out by manually checking each item to see if it still belongs where it is, though.
