Legacy World Transfer to Non-Legacy World (Time Frame and Opinions)

I'm hoping this will be more of a centralized thread on the issue of when Legacy world characters will be allowed to transfer to non-Legacy worlds. Any projection on when this would be implemented would be nice.

I also want to get people's opinions as to whether Legacy character transfers would truly have a negative impact on other worlds' economies. Before that, I want to point out that: (1) there is already a three million gil cap for any transfer; and (2) even if a Legacy character would use all of his gil to buy materials and other things on his Legacy server before transferring, there is essentially a tax on each item because the Legacy server economy is generally more inflated than any non-Legacy server he would transfer to (this mitigates the effect he would have on the economy by bringing items to sell on the bazaar).

It will eventually be allowed, but there is no set timeframe at the moment. Over time the significance of a legacy world player transferring will decrease and they will probably evaluate the issue periodically to decide when the likely impact has shrunk to a point they're comfortable with allowing the transfers at.

What I'm trying to tell you is THERE IS NO SET OR CONFIRMED TIMEFRAME. We only know that it will happen, at some to be determined point in the future. We have been assured that it is a temporary restriction.

In the meantime, if you are complaining because you can't join a friend's server, then why not have that friend join your server instead?

Fair enough, but your information is mostly inferences. They cited they were concerned with the economy when they announced the bar on Legacy transfers, but I would like some sort of statement concerning time frame (rather than the seemingly random guess of forum-goers saying six months). I feel the argument about economic stability is weak since, as far as I've heard, other servers already have strong economies with many level 50 crafters.

Comedic value of your dead horse reference aside, my searches on the topic have resulted in disjointed information and none really called for public feedback or made much of a splash. If people simply don't care about the topic, that's fine. However, SE is more likely to pay attention when there's a lot of noise. I want to see how much noise people will make.

One decent solution is to allow Legacy characters to transfer now with a heavier tax on their gil (aka cap at 1 million).

It's 1 million per character and 200k per retainer. They lowered it when the paid service started.

Goobbue envy is alive and well.

Legacy players like their gobbue's, we like to keep it that way.

Alas, too many people will whine and SE will eventually give in, it's sad but it will probably happen some day. At least our subscription price will always stay the same, hopefully.

Goobbue is not legacy. Goobbue could be obtained by doing a specific quest in 1.0.

Characters created on ARR can not have the Goobbue. Hence characters created on non-legacy can not have the Goobbue, even if the player is a 1.0 or a legacy player.

Give Goobue to 1.0 players in other servers.

Legacy players have a very different mount: the legacy Chocobo.

Legacy players trying to be sneaky suggesting that the gil limit will have any effect on their impact on the new server economy. I have leveled everything to 50 on a fresh server first of all so not worried about them coming over and being "ahead" of me. Second of all I have a 50 1.0 character with quite a bit of gil and materials so I wouldn't mind the xfer myself. But I would buy out every mat that's cheaper on legacy and actually end up with more gil on the new server then I have now. Not to mention anyone that played 1.0 much at all has 9999 crystals/shards and probably in the thousands on clusters too since it dropped like candy which is a ton of gil on a new server in itself. So if they do ever allow it they need to also cap certain items you can xfer with too or it WILL hurt the economy on new servers.
