Cast Speed
Hey! I've one Question!
In my Opinion is Castspeed one of the most useless Attributes ever (in FF 14).
For Example the Skill of the Whm, which doubles the Castspeed decreases the Speeltime only for 0.3 sec. And more annoying is that even the 0.3 sec are useless because the GCD scale for 0.03 sec. (Also only one!!!! Skill is faster)
So on lot of 70 and some ILvl 90 Items are Castspeed, I feel like wasting potencial with that Attribute.
I want to know if something is planed for that (useless) Attribute?????
[In coil 4 for Example the Tank gets much Faster DMG then my Cure II Casttime is(even with Buff and nearly Full 90 Gear as WHM) and an Instant Cure II make it only Harder because Instant means here only 1 Cure II then 2,9 sec GDC + 2 sec Castime)
And that makes in my Opinion the WHM to a worse Healer then Scholar.
And in FF was the WHM always the stronger Healer

Spell speed isn't bad, there just isn't a situation where you can increase it without sacrificing Determination, Critical Hit Rate, or Accuracy. There may be a rare circumstance where you are capped in accuracy and have a toss up between Piety and Spell speed, and that's the only case where it might be better to have spell speed.
Without Spell speed bonuses, Selene would be only half as useful, and so speed does play a role.

I think most people simply dislike Spell Speed because it's very difficult to get respectable amounts of it during the first gear tier (so to speak) we're stuck in for the moment, and the general opinion seems to be that people either want halved (re)cast times or nothing (which is kind of absurd, in my opinion). :p
For all we know, by the time a new expansion is imminent, it could be possible to get enough spell speed to halve our cast timers, or enough critical hit rating so we cause crits half the time. Or maybe enough Determination so a simple Physick/Cure restores half the health of a DPS? So, unless Yoshi-P does a 180 degree turn and "caps" item levels at 90 and switches over to horizontal gear progression, I'd say we should give it some time. :p

Spell speed is an OK stat, it's just that it's much less important than stats like determination, crit hit rate etc. Your level (and sometimes gear, even if you don't focus on it) provides you enough of it and there's no need to work on stacking more as you need a substantial amount.
High percent-based increments like Selene's %30 can make a difference though.
