percetages and shards

Is it me or are the percentages in this game so far off as to be laughable? What i'm talking about is, as any gatherer/crafter can tell you, If i'm mining somthing at say 85%, i shouldn't be getting the "dud" sound when i mine and get nothing 3 out of 5 times. Or when crafting , if i'm at 90% fail 2 out of 5 times on high quality items.

It's very annoying to me, i can't help but imaging it's the same for other ppl. It's not that i'm upset about failing, it's that when i think i have good or better stats then i really need to do something and the reality is that what the percentages say and what really happens are 2 very different things.

Another RNG complaint? Mine 1000 items at 85% and I can tell you it won't be far off from the mark.

Computer RNG is notoriously streaky - which often results in very frustrating results when small batches of gathering, crafting, or combat related action fail several times in a row. Players don't typically notice when the get several straight critical hits on an NPC, but several critical hits on them in a row typically causes a quick death in a boss fight.

Whether it works out in batches of ten thousand or millions is rather irrelevant - players don't experience games that way.

Mhyth's right. I'm guessing you're not keeping track of your actual results.

For every 3-4 85% chance misses I've had, I've had 3-4 15% HQ's in a row gathering.

It's frustrating when I pop four or five Hasty Touches, (@80%) often in a row, but I know I don't pay attention to synths where I land every single one, of the 6-9 that are required for assorted synths.

And it's harder to judge, because we don't know their chances of showing up, but I've had synths that had no 'good' qualities show up, and I've had synths with back to back 'Excellent's.

I've tested out the percentages and they are working properly. The more you gather, the closer you approach that percentage.


For example: You are at 79% chance for an item

At 1000 gathers: 64%
At 2000 gathers 72%
At 3000 gathers 75%

It can also go vice versa:

At 1000 gathers: 84%
At 2000 gathers 82%
At 3000 gathers 79%
