Square Enix marketing for FFXIV should follow in the footsteps of Dominos Pizza

I wish translators could put this into Japanese and show it to the development team. Their reaction to criticism, mentality, approach, overhaul, and subsequent marketing of their new product is perfect.

FFXIV is Dominos Pizza. Square Enix could learn a lot from them.

Dominos is competitive now, which is light years away from what it was. Furthermore, the marketing and image production from self-effacement was perfectly executed.

I thought thats what they made the forums for? To be able to see first hand what the players would like to see, to understand what they were liking and not liking. How players are reacting to information/updates and figure out how to approach fixes.

Also why would they market the game at this point if its still being worked on? They need to wait until they have it in P2P condition so they can start marketing it again and prepare for the PS3 release.

Naturally you can't jump the gun and announce mission accomplished too soon, but if they do manage to change this into a >8/10 game, this is the approach they need to take.

Unlike their other games, they DO have to advertise this game if they want anyone to try it (or try it again). This one will not sell itself, because it already unsold itself.

When they DO advertise this game, this is the approach they need to take. If they don't mention how bad they were, people will not trust them on how good they claim they now are.

If the game gets good enough to be a Final Fantasy, this is the marketing approach SE needs to take.

Square Enix should actually offer to meet with Dominos Pizza executives and have a chat honestly.

That's a matter of opinion. Here's another opinion. I never thought Domino's sucked to begin with. Yet now I believe they have greatly improved their product.
