CMIIW but I've read somewhere (forgot the link alr) that you need 100 skillspeed / spellspeed for a -1s cast time / cooldown.
Spell speed is pretty worthless if you dont have a GIANT number
Find the spell speed you have with BiS. Subtract 341 (base). Go by what was said in 2nd post.
Assuming this chart here is correct...
Main Hand: 37 Spell Speed (Allagan Cane)
Shield: 7 Spell Speed (Ancient Shield, assuming it exists)
Head: 16 spell speed (Fully melded Vanya Hat of Healing)
Body: 27 spell speed (Fully melded Vanya Robe of Healing)
Legs: 27 spell speed (Fully melded Vanya Breeches of Healing)
Hands: 16 spell speed (Fully melded Vanya Gloves of Healing)
Feet: 21 spell speed (Allagan Boots of Healing)
Waist: 12 spell speed (Vanya Sash of Healing, already capped from the get-go)
Earrings: 12 Spell speed (Rose Gold Earrings, already capped from the get-go)
Wrists: 16 spell speed (Allagan Bracelets of Healing)
Neck: 16 (12) spell speed with Allagan Bracelets of Casting (12 if using fully melded Astral Necklace)
Rings: 28 spell speed (12 Astral Ring with materia caps reached, 16 from Allagan Ring of Casting)
So, we can gain 235 spell speed assuming we want to be silly and use Caster gear instead of healing gear. Assuming we stick to healing gear, we can get 227 spell speed instead.
Looking at the stat window, we'd have either 576 (silly) or 568 (srsbizniz) spell speed. Now, let's add a Pineapple Ponzecake on that, which gives a +4% spell speed boost, up to a maximum of 27 points...
576*0.04=23 spell speed (Rounded down from 23.04)
568*0.04=23 spell speed (Rounded up from 22.72, though I'll admit I don't know if the game actually rounds it down in this case)
Thus we can get up to 599 Spell Speed (silly) or 591 (srsbizniz). Subtracting from the 341 base, we have 258 bonus spell speed, or 250.
This means we can reach a global cooldown of 2.25 seconds (if 10 spell speed is indeed 0.01 reduced GCD) as it stands without short-term speed buffs. Seeing as it's a neat 10% haste increase, I'm just going to guess Cure will take 1.8 sec to cast, Medica II/Holy will take 2.7 sec, Raise 7.2 sec and so on.
Feel free to dispute. I'm bad to begin with at maths, and I'm sleepy right now. :p
Overall I wouldn't worry about spell speed as it doesn't help unless you have an outlandish number and you lose stats in other more important areas. Till they change how it works (ie increase mana/resource regen) it is a useless stat overall.
