Beastmaster MRD -> BST (DPS)

I'm just curious if people would want a pet DPS class outside of Summoner; I know I'd like to see something done with Beastmaster and Marauder in the future - particularly interested in seeing what void could be filled by a Melee/Pet DPS hybrid could be in FFXIV ARR.

Beastmaster

MRD -> BST

Howl - Instant 10s Recast
Increases physical damage dealt by 10% while lowering enmity.
Effect ends upon reuse.

Familiar - 6s Cast 2.5s Recast
Calls forth an attacker-type pet to fight at your side.

(Coeurl high attack rate, Bighorn high HP, Drake high attack power low defense*)

Feral Rush - Instant 30s Recast
Delivers an attack with a potency of 350. Pet is unable to attack for 7s after use.

Feral Snarl - Instant 40s Recast
Increases attack power and skill speed by 10%.
Duration: 20s

Untamed - Instant 90s Recast
Unleash your pet's feral nature; Delivers an attack with a potency of 300.

Coeurl:
Additional Effect - Paralyze 5s

Bighorn:
Additional Effect - Stun 3s

Drake:
Additional Effect - Burn 10s




Particularly I'd like to hear what people think about something similar to what I've elaborated on above; Do people want to see a class similar to Dragoon and Beastmaster a la FFXI? How should/would Square implement a class like this? Anyone have ideas for mechanics? I'm a little bored with what I've seen of Anarchist and I'm hoping a Melee/Pet DPS hybrid will come sooner rather than later.

I'm pretty sure it has been said there would be a Shepherd --> Beastmaster progression, although I assume that is widely subject to change.

That said, I... could actually see this with some adjustments to the enmity abilities that Marauder has while on the Beastmaster job.

Isn't Beastmaster a master of Tame. Where is the Taming skill?

I figured the "Taming" aspect of Beastmaster could be woven into the Quest plot-line;

i.e as a Marauder you've spent your time defending people from various beasts and showing them what courage is; now as Beastmaster your path to greater power is to defeat those feral beasts and harness their strength.

Taking up your Axe you travel into the wilderness in search of great and terrible legendary beasts while learning from them under to tutelage of (Insert Beastmaster Quest Master's Name Here); the Desert Bighorn in Thanalan, the Jungle Coeurl in La Noscea, and the Highland Drake in Coerthas <- Add local lore/tales about each to the quest plot.

Each of these would involve a special battle - requiring you to learn something about each beast you capture and tame. Becoming a master of beasts calling forth a Familiar to fight beside you and unleashing their feral natures against your enemies. (Directly translates with their different attributes and different Untamed Additional effects etc.)

Rather than forcing the player to Charm/Tame a monster -> Use the "Familiar" system to call one of those beasts; the number and variety of which can be expanded later in the game's lifecycle.

So pretty much a Melee version of Summoner.

edit: Addition to this one where is your skill to heal your pet? All you did was bringing all this summon to do pure DD without your support the beastmaster. So what im trying to say is by saying MRD will be the 2nd job wont be possible for this class.

I think they were looking at DRK for the Marauder weren't they? BST would need to come from somewhere else - like someone mentions Shepard .

Sounds about right. Since MRD has a Berserk skill. adding that to Souleater of DRK that will be epic damage there.
