SE: Considerations for adjusting Eos's Obey behavior

Currently, all summons (Selene, Emerald/Topaz Carbuncle, Titan-Egi, Ifrit-Egi, and Garuda-Egi) are set to only use their 3 second cooldown "attack" when under Obey "attack mode", allowing the master to order their other commands as they see fit.

However, when the fairy Eos is on Obey mode, she still uses the 60 second cooldown "Whispering Dawn", which casts an AoE regen on party members. This is problematic in trying to use her as precise as possible, for a couple of reasons:

1) Having Eos in "Steady" mode makes it so she will only use Embrace (the best workaround at the moment, in my opinion), but if any command is ordered (such as manually ordering Embrace) she will return to "Guard" mode and start using cooldowns again (all of them on Sic, still Whispering Dawn on Obey). So the master must choose between being able to manually order Embrace or having control over Whispering Dawn. You can try to do both but...

2) Whispering Dawn has a cast time. This is problematic because when an order is given to the pet (such as Steady, Place, Heel, Sic, Obey, or another spell) it will cancel the current cast and not refund the cooldown. So it is possible to "interrupt" Whispering Dawn and waste it entirely if the master's control is not precise enough.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I don't wish to be presumptuous but I and several Scholars I know would be very happy to see this adjustment come to fruition.

EDIT: Others have mentioned a desire for a "simple" on/off system for each ability, such as

On - Embrace
Off - Whispering Dawn
On - Fey Covenant
Off - Fey Illumintation

So in this setup, Eos would only use Embrace and Covenant automatically. I recognize this would probably be harder to implement, but it would be nice to see!

All they have to do is not allow pets to auto-use abilities, it's not rocket science.

I hope they fix this soon but I just don't believe they will. Right now I just use selene and hope I get a group that is either more casters or more melee instead of a split. But until they fix it Eos, as great a healer as she is, just wont be used nearly as much.

A much bigger problem I have, I'm not sure if it is actually an AI flaw or if it's just me, is that both my faerie pets never actually use their level 40 buff spells, only the level 30 ones.

Considering Selene's level 40 buff is the one that boosts skill speed, and this is far more useful for a dungeon team with only one spellcaster, and Selene will actually override Fey Light with Fey Glow immediately upon casting even when I tell her to cast Light manually, this is kind of a huge problem. It doesn't just waste Fey Glow constantly and unnecessarily, it also makes Fey Light almost impossible to actually use.

Selene has that issue, but Eos always uses Fey Illusion for me.

I agree with Kristina for just making the abilities having an always/never switch.

As long as they make it an option. Selene actually preforms best on auto pilot... It' Eos who you need to keep a tight leash on her moves are too valuable to let her have control over, that saucy little minx.

Eos definitely will use Fey Illumination on her own (often the first thing she does if on Sic mode).

For Selene, your best "workarounds" are...
1) Just use Fey Light after Fey Glow expires; both have 30s up and 60s down so you can keep a constant cycle (least control needed, but timing can be disrupted by pulls/kill speed in dungeons)
2) Have her on Obey and just go full manual (best control but most amount of work)
3) Switch to Steady if you have to use Light "late" so she doesn't use Glow the second it's up

With the definite "no" on a gambit-like system, I don't trust SE to make Selene a totally automated pet, so I don't expect her specific problem to go away. Just focusing on the battles that don't seem to implausible to change (Eos) ^^;

I am definitely in favor of an on/off system though, so I can at least change which of Light/Glow is the automatic one.

While those are all solutions, they are all less than satisfactory ones, as they all involve me wasting more of my time I'm already busy doing a hundred other things that being a Scholar involves. Whereas the simplest solution to my problem would be merely making Selene's AI remotely competent.

I don't mind not having a Gambit system, honestly. I don't feel the need to micromanage what my pets are doing to that precise a degree. But the stance system as it stands is far from good, and I simply cannot stand having Selene perpetually wasting a perfectly good buff.
