One tiny issue → one big problem.

I did a quick search but couldn’t find a topic on it: I find it really hard to use the legacy controls on FFXIV, with the mouse controlling the direction I generally find myself running about like an idiot (especially in F.A.T.Es), and constantly missing chances to attack, I much prefer the new kb/m controls with the character controlling the direction.

So it’s unfortunate that I can’t play my preferred job (Warrior) as I enter endgame. Why? Well, it’s simple. The kb/m locks onto the target with the new controls, and when tanking a mob that uses AOE moves, I press backward to move out of range my character…..moves….very….slowly. It’s a small thing, and has such a huge impact on how well I play my role (especially in the eyes of others, who, at endgame, can be – shall we say – a little bit unforgiving)? With legacy controls you can move out of the way no problem, but controlling the character seems beyond my dex, even with two HQ Spinel Rings.

I’d love a fix for this.

So...you want to moon walk as fast as your running forward speed?

I think he wants a third option - standard plus backward running like Legaacy.

Perhaps not the most intelligent response or point of discussion I was hoping for, but you are essentially correct. Or it could be like legacy controls where the character will turn and run.

I dunno, don't lock on to the target then? You don't need to use that function, and IMO it hurts more than it helps.

ESC > Character Configuration > Control Settings > Target > uncheck "Automatically lock on target when initiating auto-attack".

I'm not entirely sure what he's trying to get at. I use a controller but I've used kb/m before (both in 1.x and arr). Standard and legacy is virtually the same save for the backwards movement. He's complaining about lock on but I've tried lock on on both modes. Both locks the character into backpedal when you're moving away from the target while locked on.

Hell, I dont even know how he's having trouble moving in any direction in legacy mode.
