Frustration with not being able to add to party in a dungeon.

My gripe is starting a premade party to run a dungeon and not being able to add someone later on. I've had several instances where we're halfway through a dungeon and someone has to leave. You cannot add someone from duty finder or another friend or FC member to the party to help finish out the dungeon.

I really don't see a factor on why this would be limited. As it is you cannot kick someone from a party and if someone leaves well... tough luck. Can't finish the dungeon unless you want to attempt 3 manning but most dungeons are so finely tuned this isn't possible no matter how good your party is.

My suggestion for a fix... let us add people to a party after someone has left or at least allow a party to supplement with duty finder.

I totally agree with this. How many time did the Tank leave us and DF couldn't find a replacement (how many people actually check the "Join a Party in Progress" option?)

Either make the option obligatory instead of optional or allow us to add people of our own like FC or Friends.

This probably has a lot to do with the dungeons putting you in "another realm" beyond your server's scope - the same thing that interferes with /tell.

But strangely, not with /fc....

At least allow DF replacement.

To the point at which I wish they would implement an "only join parties in progress" option so that I didn't have to occasionally withdraw from 'new' groups whenever I'm in the mood to replace somebody.

It cuts a lot of time off Myth Tome farming to join a group that are 2/3 of the way through the dungeon :)

I do agree. I also understand why it's designed as it is, but this should be fixed. When the entire party is formed before entering Duty Finder, it does not enforce the class criteria (typically 1 tank, 1 healer, 2 DPS). As such, if you start a four-summoner party or something, there's not really a good way to handle anyone joining that group via the Duty Finder's present state if one of the original members leaves.

At the very least, I would strongly recommend checking party configuration in this situation to see if it already matches the template configuration anyway. For example: I had a paladin, white mage, monk, and black mage. The monk left after the first boss, leaving us short one DPS. Our group still had 1 tank, 1 healer, and 1 DPS, though. There's no reason another DPS shouldn't be able to join.

A step beyond that would be to allow people to actually fine tune what they want (things like one tank for Titan or selecting what specific jobs they want rather than roles). But I'll happily settle for the first step for now.

I agree, but can't you just tell your FC member to que with the "join in progress" checked? Would that que them up for the ones in progress first, or que them up for fresh parties, then the ones in progress if no fresh ones are available?

That only works if you didn't go in premade and even then it isn't a guarantee.

Our FC has tried this a cple time and our replacement first time got placed in a party with only 1 other member. The other person is afk(probably why they were left) and he leaves. He was still given the 15min penalty. 15min ltr he come in again and its to a 2 person groups that has been without a tank so long they lost their healer about 2min before he entered que. This are some seriously prob. that really shouldn't be present. If you have a grp of 3 going through the dungeon they should be finished first. No one should ever be paired with 1 person in a dungeon, unless pairing if both are being replaced at the same time. By this time we could no longer 3 man it as we were stuck at a 4 man boss. 3rd time The tank got paired with a group that was at the first area, instead of with us who were waiting at the last boss and been 3man for 40min.
