And yet, you were still able to run through them before.
I will admit that I enjoyed the different behavioral traits the foes once had before, but it did need adjusting. The problem for me is that they didn't exactly compromise, they just removed it.
To be fair, mob behaviour is something that would be nice to see again yeah. They talked up animal pack-behaviour and such pre-release, it's kinda of a shame that appears to have been ditched, and even more-so now.
But still, collision detection can stay gone.

Keep collision gone, I would not like having my path obscured by the moving forward rear end of a marmot again as it shouts at me "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!".
What else is missing in this game? Mobs that sight/sound link. Leves don't count, they're already pre-grouped in such a manner. FFXI had sheep that would go plow you over if it saw you attacking another sheep. Here you go attack a nanny and the other nannys would just make threatening motions, and the billy doesn't so much bat an eye.
