Friend entirely convinced all lag is from PS3 users and people with Old Comps.
This can't be right, I mean i AM on ps3 and one day everything in the game , no matter where i am works pretty flawlessly, especially in places like wanderers palace, and ampador keep, even more so at night when the servers get some slack.
Yet a day later, or at completely random times the game becomes borderline unplayable.
Now i'm definitely not a computer programmer, but this drastic change seems a little too severe at times to say LOLPS3. Maybe fate grinding in coerthas at prime time but a 4 man instanced small dungeon? Ive been thru several turns of coil at night where it ran smooth as silk.
Am I just totally off base in my assumption ?
Your friend doesn't understand...
...how the internet, server<->client networking, or computers in general work, clearly. The server is not impacted by people's machines' ability to render frames, and I would be a little surprised (not incredulous, but surprised) if Squenix didn't already do the math on how many seats each server can support and put 125-200% of the networking gear in front of them to handle that load.
I've actually been curious about this and when I hit those big spikes, netmon is clearer for me than the average game of LoL. The path for me (from Seattle) to Lich is pretty darn good. What's happening on the server, I can't say...
