Mercenaries/ Soldiers of Fortune
Correct me if I'm wrong but a little bird told me(rumor) there was considered to be a system which trumps all other systems to take FFXIV and make it worth investing time and money on.
To the point:
Basically a system to hire another character to fight beside you in open areas and dungeons beside relying on the lol"Duty Finder".
Wouldn't you like to make gil while your off-line?
I bet you would enjoy setting up your preference to what dungeons or request you would like to reply to and not even be on your PC/PS3.
If our community REP can inquire about this, set us straight about it, this would be really cool!
ARR Mercenaries Continued....
This a suggestion I want to re evaluate and hopefully make better if only the forums can let me post beyond 1000 chr! >.<

I'm much rather an NPC system bringing back the Path Companions from 1.0 but using them as actual fighters in battle, as there's less room for abuse with such a system.
I read your concerns and opinion. I've considered them and even agree but I don't thing RMT should be an excuse to limit possibilities to the rest of us. For some of us, it's a life style and for some, just a game or a hobby.
Below was a recent anouncement about the special tast force working to eliminate RMT from the game.

2013/12/12 03:27 Regarding Actions Taken Against In-Game RMT and Other Illicit Activities (Dec. 12)
RMT and other illicit activities upset the balance of the game and, as such, are prohibited under the Terms of Service.
Because we have confirmed the existence of players who are engaging in these illicit activities, we have taken the actions listed below.
Time Period: Dec. 5, 2013 to Dec. 11, 2013
- Accounts receiving disciplinary action for RMT advertising: 782
- Accounts receiving disciplinary action for illicit activity: 116
- Action Details: Permanent ban from FINAL FANTASY XIV
Included in the above are players who used/obtained gil, items, or actions through fraudulent means. Although we are taking the utmost care and attention to prevent such actions, players who discover any confirmed cheats should, under no circumstances, exploit or disseminate such information. Instead, we ask that players file a report by using the in-game command [System Menu] -> [Support Desk] -> [Contact Us] -> [Report Cheating].
We will continue to take stringent disciplinary action against any accounts with confirmed involvement in RMT/illicit activity; players should take care to steer clear of any activity that violates the Terms of Service.
