Correct me if I'm wrong but a little bird told me(rumor) there was considered to be a system which trumps all other systems to take FFXIV and make it worth investing time and money on.
To the point:
Basically a system to hire another character to fight beside you in open areas and dungeons beside relying on the lol"Duty Finder".
Wouldn't you like to make gil while your off-line?
I bet you would enjoy setting up your preference to what dungeons or request you would like to reply to and not even be on your PC/PS3.
If our community REP can inquire about this, set us straight about it, this would be really cool!

Interesting idea, but the potential for abuse by RMT is just too high I'm afraid (whose to say the person hiring the character won't use them for gilfarming? And if they do, would the actual original player of that character be liable for damages if the character is suspended by SE?).
I'm much rather an NPC system bringing back the Path Companions from 1.0 but using them as actual fighters in battle, as there's less room for abuse with such a system. -

You do know a system very close to this actually already exists in Mordor, right? People are gladly carrying you for a small sum of gillies. They can even carry you through more complex fights like Titan.
What you seem to ask for is eighter a P2W system or a way for you to never having to play with another player.
In case 1, go and play GW2 or other F2P/P2W MMORPGs. In case 2, go and play single player FF games.
Also, DF is not nearly as bad as it's reputution, most people complaining about it are in dire need of carrying. Only instant in DF I can think of that I think MAYBE you want a premade for is Titan HM. -

I hate NPC grouping...its just....so single player like, have never cared for it in any game its been implemented in, why not just make friends? I mean....whats up with the anti-social soloing in an MMO?
I have found the general population in todays MMOs not overtly friendly, I personally enjoy making friends, its what makes these games more enjoyable than say skyrim. any system that takes away from player interaction sucks IMO, especially when all chars can be any class, get a few friends from other MMOs to come play, I have 2 friends playing with me right now, although I suppose if other games you have played had a strong NPC helper system you didn't make as many friends to invite over? See an endless vicious cycle of soloing hell. -
12-14-2013, 12:43 AMEnkidohThat's fair enough, but you have to realize, that pretty much everything you see in ARR has been a direct result of SE deliberately trying to prevent RMT activities by removing possible exploitable functions and gameplay elements that are traditionally used by RMT - it's the reason why there is no proper Auction House in the game, why you cannot send a Moogle Mail message to someone not on your Friend List, or even to another character on your account, why NPC stores only buy back items for a tiny amount, etc etc.Quote:

I'm not trying to be Miss-negative here, but I'm sorry to say the meme 'this is why we can't have nice things,' pretty much sums up this situation. And hence it's the reason why your concept, although a very unique and interesting idea, just would not be workable in FFXIV I'm afraid.
