Coblyns, from wimp of the land to adventure killing machine.

I understand that coblyns and doblyns were a bit too easy back before they were patched. But I'm scratching my head at why they still have the insanly high defense and high attack damage, that they had before, and seem to have more hp than any other mob of the same rank.

I'm just trying to do some 1~10 rank leves most of which contain coblyns, and the difficulty is set so that I'm within 1 rank difference, which with any other monster from the rank 1~10 range this would be a joke, but these things are consistantly killing my character. They are doing 40-60 damage each, while I do 12-13x2 damage if I don't miss. and did i mention they all seem to be in groups of 2?
So for my 24-26 damage they are doing 80-120 damage, I don't know what kinda testing was done before this part of the patch was okay'd but this is absolutly broken in comparison to any other monster in the game.

Even NMs are easier than this, adjust the hp back down some or get rid of coblyns and doblyns, cause obviously they are just too complicated for SE to get right.

You're just not going about killing them properly. Use magic damage :p

You know, besides magic damage (which includes Red Lotus from GLA, Seismic Shock from PGL, etc...), they're weak to blunt damage too (which would include Leg Sweep from LNC, Shield Bash from GLA, Fracture and Brutal Swing from MRD, and just about EVERY PGL melee and WS attack.)
But hey, I guess you're one of those guys that never bothers to find optimal solutions to combat the enemy at hand.

Did you get archer to 50 before or after the doblyn nerf? Because by the demographic, most players with your profile got your profile by abusing OP's predicament. If you are one of those archers, and you very well may be or may not be, it's pretty laughable that you'd come in here and tell him to suck it up. Just saying.

Doblyns were poorly designed on several fronts. Their hp and ridiculous density made them prime targets, namely by multishotwhoring archer fadders. Their drops destroyed the mining market, which in turn destroyed the smithing market.

Right now doblyns are balanced. The metal they drop should protect them from sp-grinders. You can't have people sp-grinding on metal dropping mobs.

Actually, Lancer was my first 50. I ranked up Archer after the nerf to support my Lancer's skill set. Everything I rank revolves around my Lancer in some form or another (with the notable exception being Gladiator, which contributes almost nil.) Even THM is for Resurrect, Sac III, and Emulate for LNC soloing/lowman NMs. To be honest, I pretty much refuse to even touch ARC unless my LS explicitly requires one over a LNC.

And yeah, you're right about the drops killing the market. But more than that, it killed party play since not only was it more profitable to grind the cobs and dobs, the SP was rock solid (pun not intended) compared to other means of progression.

In short, not all is how it may seem to you. Things aren't so black and white. And not all people take the easy road. If I wanted the easy road with no feeling of accomplishment, I wouldn't have solo'd BLU to 75 and kept it as my endgame job over my MNK, SAM, or DRG. And my BLU was welcome into said endgame because I played my job to its fullest. Hell, I was even one of the people that pioneered the BLU stunloop on the CoP Airship battle.

I'm just glad they killed the next version of Colibri.

Seismic shock on a coblyn? lol you just wasted 1000 tp to do 17 more damage than a single hit. Ya they have good defense and higher hp, but they are still routinely killed even if you are 10 ranks lower than they are. It was a needed fix, their HP was just to low before they got the buff stick, they were all people would grind.

Hard to waste 1000TP when you get it back in 2 hits. But yes, Concussive Blow would be the wiser choice on PGL.

Funny, the leve ones I was killing, were done with pugilist, the fights were much longer than any other leve mob of the same rank.

As for cocky attitude, um no, that would be sarcasm.
