Question about PS3 & PC options.

Hi. I bought XIV for PC and played it for 1.5 month until something happened to my PC. Since I had a PS3, I bought a copy of XIV from PSN so I could play while without my PC.

I just ordered new PC parts, and I'm wondering if I can give this PS3 to my brother so we can game together. I did not register the PS3 for a new account, I just linked it with my old PC account which I should be playing from my new PC soon.

I just don't ever see myself playing PS3 version again, the performance is so bad, even in 8 man instances.

Confused by what you mean by linked it. If you 'linked' it as in entered in the codes in order to play from ps3 then it will no longer work for a new player.

Yeah, afraid your brother will have to buy the game for himself, and the PS3 copy if you want him to be playing on that. Good news, he won't have to download and install it if it's the PS3 you've been using. Like any other game, he's going to need a PSN account if he wants to play his account. Not too difficult, just needs to set up his own profile and log in.

You can't, as you can't remove a game from your account once it's added. Your brother needs his own copy.

does this not make it possible? what exactly is a service account?

It works if one play on the NA/EU datacenter and the other on the JP datacenter.
You can login on the same account twice if the datacenters are not the same.

then technically you can okay with 2 characters simultaneously because you have 2 service accounts (1 for ps3 and 1 for PC).

So your brother should be able to play using your account on the PS3 while you are playing on your PC. You may be limited however because of the subscription you have. So like, if you can only create 1 character per server, both of you would have to play on separate servers. But if you have the subscription that allows up to 8 characters then you can both play on the same server together.

I think that's just saying that one person can buy multiple boxes.

...But seriously, what the difference between Square Enix account and service account?

The PS3 and PC Registration code have been bound to YOUR Account. Your brother/sister/cousin/girlfriend/boyfriend/husband/wife/etc will need their own registrations and bindngs.

The Square Enix account is just an account where you registered yourself pretty much. You link your serials from games and whatever to this. A service account could be called your subscription I guess. In some cases some people have multiple subscriptions and end up with multiple service accounts under the same SE account. Keeps you from having to remember multiple logins.

See this is where it gets tricky on if it would work or not for you because it depends what you did.

If you linked your ps3 to your SE account but created a NEW service account you could use them both at the same time paying the sub on 2 service accounts. You would not have access to your pc's characters on ps3 though. But if you linked it to an existing service account in order to play the same character on both pc and ps3 then yea you need another box.

The whole playing on a different data center work around someone mentioned could get plugged at any time so yeah.
