Primals Hard Questions
I have just reached Level 50 and I know my next quest is the quest in taking on Gaius and Ultima Weapon. I have the Standard Quest earned Level 50 Paladin gear as you can see on my character page. I want to aim to get Curtana and Holy Shield after that quest. I guess there are a few questions in this post.
1) Is my Level 50 Gear enough for me to do the Praetorium quest without being a shitty tank?
2) I already reviewed what is necessary for the Curtana and Holy Shield and to do any of the Primals quest would the Level 50 gear just make me a major set back? Is the only way to go about it is to HAVE the Darklight Gear?
I am sure obviously the Darklight will make it easier but it is just me wondering if I could attempt these quest or will I be outranked and just be scolded for even coming into the Quest with story Given Lv50 Paladin gear :confused:

1) Story quest can be done in all AF. Period. I had to solo tank both of them thanks to a jerk 'AFK'-ing both instances as WAR in full AF.
2) Ifrit is easily done in AF. As PLD, you will be reduced to stun bot anyway. You will want to start collecting DL for Garuda on though. You can also go through AK with AF, but I would recommend getting some DL or two for this as well.

1. You can go through Praetorium with your AF gear and market board bought accessories. You can also make do with a Cobalt Winglet and Kite Shield although dungeon drops or GC gear will probably be better.
2. Ifrit is pretty simple and Garuda is more of a skill check on players, but Titan is by far the first true gear check in the game. You have to have a certain amount of HP depending on your class and the Darklight gear is the best option to fill that void. I believe most people would prefer the tank to have at least 5000 health for Titan. Gear from WP and AK will get you by for a while, but you're definitely going to want some Darklight stuff for Titan. Coil is the next logical step after Titan and you currently can't even compete in there without full Darklight due to a complete tier of gear missing from Crystal Tower, as Titan > CT > Coil is how the game was really supposed to progress.
So to answer your question, yes, you will be booted out of a local group if you're still wearing your AF gear and make it to Titan. Don't expect people in the DF to have any patience with you either. You could be the best tank in the world, but there's a minimum requirement for the fight to be successful and what you beat the main story with just won't cut it.

I am super noobish to the FF14 lingo :[ I can guess what is happening here
AF- Artifact Armor
DL - Darklight
WP - Wanderers Palace
AK - A???? Keep
DF - ??????
Thanks though, The reason I asked is because honestly I tried Wanderers Palace with my current gear and we got all the way to the last Tonberry Boss but my HP wasn't high enough to withstand 3 Stacked [Everyone's Grudge] my party was way more than helpful and they let me know that unfortunately we won't be able to finish the quest because they knew my HP wasn't high enough to tank at my most effectiveness so ever since then I have been trying to make sure I know what to do and I really am trying to make sure I don't end up repeating the experience because even though they were hella nice and super helpful I felt so bad to be of a major let down.

DF just refers to Duty Finder.
Also, yeah, Praetorium was specifically designed to be more than doable in AF gear since most of the higher gear is easier to get after unlocking more endgame content.

Things you can do:
1. Get 10000 seals and reset your stats and go all Vit. By my extremely nerdy calculations you've got about 5 points in Vit? All Vit all the time!
2. Hit up market board and get:
Amber Ring x2 (HQ depending on price)
Amber Earring (HQ depending on price)
Amber Bracelet (HQ depending on price)
Militia Choker (HQ depending on price)
3. If you have a good bit of cash, get a HQ Aoelian Scimitar(sp?). You will eventually need to turn this in for the relic quest, so I bought it day 1 of 50 and used it till I got my GC promotions, bought the GC weapon and turned int the scimitar. Look up the name, I'm pretty sure that's not the correct name.
These few things will kick you up to 4300-4450 hp, which is enough for both dungeons, Ifrit, and probably Garuda(though you'll need to cycle cooldowns well during red line add).
From there, running AK will yield you shots at iLvl 60 armor and accessories, so I'd run that until you have enough drops to fill out your other slots with DL, then run WP for faster tome farm.
For HM titan, as a tank you have three options:
1. Buy a run
2. Start your own run, in which case you will want at least 5200 hp unbuffed but probably closer to full Darklight
3. Get incredibly lucky in Duty Finder

Thank you millions on some suggested accessories!!
I see... But really all VIT? I totally understand that is the Tanks role but I feel like some STR wouldn't hurt :/ being so weak on my own sucks!! I already have about a good number Seals saved up so I guess I might be doing what you said very soon, it definitely is my fault not enough points in VIT.
When you say buy a run what does that mean?

As a tank you do not need to deal a heck load of damage on your own. The tank is the shield of the team that blocks the incoming attacks on the team while the DPS is the sword that kills it. The healer is the repair team that makes sure all the armor is whole and do not break all of a sudden.
You should always focus on playing your role as good as possibl as the party content will be harder than the solo content by far and for solo content you always have the chokobo helper.

Yeah all VIT. You've already experienced the hard way what happens when you don't, if you had those 25 points in VIT you'd have been over 4k hp in WP and would have been able to easily take the 3 stack hits. Even after hitting the minimum numbers the more HP you have the more room your healers have to work with which makes you an easier heal.
Mitigation >> HP >> Avoidance >> DPS
Mitigation = DEF/MDEF/Shield Oath
HP = VIT
Avoidance = Parry/Block Rate/Block Strength/STR/DEX
DPS = STR/Det/Crit
Groups of 4-7 folks that have HM Titan on farm will run you through the fight for 100-200k depending on your server.

Actually STR impacts shield block and parry damage mitigation. Once you start getting myth and coil gear your HP isn't going to be a huge issue. You still want mostly VIT but even a small amount of STR could push you up a tier in block/parry mitigation.
