Click targeting unresponsive - upcoming PvP issue?

Compared to other MMOs, click targeting in this game is extremely difficult. In other MMOs, there seemed to be a large box around a player in which you could click and still target something.

In FFXIV you pretty much have to click precisely on your target or nothing will happen. Now this isn't a HUGE deal as PvE is easy enough even as a tank that you can tab target your way to victory, and click in a pinch if something is separated. Still not ideal, though.

However looking forward to PvP - does anyone else think this is going to be a total mess? If we're doing 4v4 or 8v8, I see us having a HELL of a time being able to play with any sort of precision.

Is anyone else concerned about this? They really need to make click boxes bigger or PvP will be a nightmare. It would help with PvE as well.

Sup. I have targeting issues even in pve sometimes. The "hitbox" of targeting is too unresponsive and small. Its annoying.

You can click the name of the monster and the same works for your party member, just in case you are an healer ^^
I had no issue by clicking on the name...
(it works also on NPC and objects...It is usefull especially when you are doing FATEs or need to talk with the bell to summon your retainer)

A lot of tank also do not mark enemies and this is a huge bad thing becuase it is all much more easy with markers..and you will see it in pvp too :)

This has been bugging me since beta. It's not that the click box is unresponsive, there just ISN'T a box. You literally have to click directly on the character/monster. In between the arms or legs doesn't count, the space between the name and the character doesn't count. They need to fix that and make it a square around the character, and add a slight click and drag allowance window, because that's bound to happen when clicking moving targets.

This thread really need some more support, with the current horrible state of tab targeting

That's the problem lol, having just a small name to click on is a huge issue, not to mention how tab targeting in this game is completely broken. The entire mob/player should be clickable. It's really not rocket science to sort this out.

Targetting sucks in this game and all the fanboys will say "It works fine for me" .... well it does work fine until there are 20 mobs on the screen at once and you want "that one, right there" but no ah ah.... tab tab tab tab tab.... PITA system.

I agree. The main reason I left 1.0 was because of basic functionality and UI, and while it has improved, there are still some huge issues with both that really should not exist in a modern MMO. The huge PITA it is to click target combined with an extremely terrible tab targeting system is pretty ridiculous.

Using mouseover macros should help lil bit for healer classes atleast when you combine it with party frames, also what comes to tabbing mobs using medium/max zoom and looking straight up to down makes it less clunky than it usually is.
