Weapons and Weapon Enhancements we Want ingame

Not to totally hijack your thread Revile. But felt it was too specific. My apologies
I think we may be able to get more attention if approach it from a general standpoint.


We all know at this point, our class is determined by the weapon we wield.
Let's take the time to let the devs know what weapons we want to see in game.

They can throw job names out later to coincide with such weapons. As job names at this point really don't matter.

Weapons Id like to see.

1. Katana (Dual Wielding)
2. Great Katana
3. Great Sword
4. Whip (possibly dual wielding like that short scene in the movie underworld)
5. 1 H Axes (possibly dual wield or axe/shield combo)
5. Scythe
6. Club
7. 1 H Guns (Dual Wielding)
8. 2 H Guns
9. Crossbows
10. Shirukens



With that said and the knowledge that they are planning on introducing a materia crafting system which seems to be for some sort of enhancements. I think it would be neat if say they incorporate visual graphics onto enhancements.

For example elemental enhancements.
IE. You have a Goblin Longsword that has been imbued with a fire enhancement.

Perhaps the sword now has a feint red glow to it when passive, and when actively attacking the glow becomes even brighter or something like that. We are only limited by our/ and the developers creativity with what could be done in this regards.

Agreed, especially Katanas! 1 Handed guns would be interesting too. To my knowledge the only other FF that had them was FFX-2. I would also suggest boomerangs and a knife class separate from Gladiator's. Don't know why they gave Glads daggers, I miss THF :(

I'm not so sure how I feel about glowing weapons, if they're not tacky I'm all for it. I have trust in SE's art style though and I'm sure they can pull it off.

Whips....I want to battle with blunt, bladed, or piercing whips. perhaps a longer range melee class that plays as a support or buff/debuff style class

Not sure what Shepard will be, but if beast masters are added, they should use whips. I'm not for or against glowing weapons, but I hope we get more intricately designed or engraved armor/clothing as a result of the job system and job exclusive equipment.

Yeah I definetly agree with your weapon wishlist, I would of added Scythes and guns as well, but I thought I'd seen them in game already, but I guess i was wrong. Someone in my thread also said that over the top Great swords dont fit this game, but I disagree, I could easily see a giant great sword like that sword Guts uses in Berserk fitting this game perfect, but maybe im jsut buyist towards massive bladed swords. I think with the right detail/textures and looks you could make any weapon type fit this game imo. I mean we already have Massive Creatures to fight , why not fight them with massive blades :P -cough- or Japanese katanas.

P.s. would be nice to see more variety in armor, just from playing so far ive noticed there isnt much in attainable armor and such. Hopefully if they add Katanas they'll add some kimonos and samurai gear. Assuming they dont already have any of this.
