Kings yield II vs Unearth II

The ability to get 25 NQ items seems pretty nice considering its approaching the point where every crafter can NQ to HQ and the profit margins for a HQ is shrinking at a constant rate. Are most people still using the old Toil + 30% combo or just memorizing the item location and yielding it?

Personally I think crafting xclass skills needs a nerf since HQ gather mats should be a necessity for HQ 2 star rather than a luxury but that is rather off topic.

This post is spot on, HQ mats are fairly quickly getting phased out. It's to the point where it actually annoys me when I get HQ hits on nodes because while they sell for slightly more than NQ prices, they sell much slower. I stopped using +10/30% HQ chance weeks ago. I always go Yield now to maximize the amount of NQ I get. 7 more NQ items makes more money than a few HQ which is really quite sad.

Don't blame the crafting skills. We crafters would like to buy the HQ stuff but you all tended to put them way up there in price and usually in huge quantities (seriously, I likely don't wanna buy a stack of 99 HQ things for 40k, thanks). I for one just go and fetch my own or craft with NQ and let the range falls where it wants.

I wouldn't necessarily pin it on the crafters either. It's a problem with the system and how the game is designed. If crafters don't need to buy HQ mats to make HQ items, then I wouldn't expect them buy my HQ mats. It sucks, but until there becomes a necessity to buy HQ mats, it'll increasingly become more popular to just farm 25 NQ rather than go for the lower yield and higher potential for HQ.

I'd love to buy HQ mats, even tho I have a Botanist, but as Karyna pointed out...they're always up in stacks of like, 99. I don't need 99 of them! And I don't wanna spend 40k on a stack of mats I don't actually need! lol

thats the secret, everybody needs clusters or crystals or shards, but not everybody will buy a full stack or a lot, i place them in lower quantities, like ores and other stuff, sells faster

Yep, and when I'm in a rush and don't have time to hunt for it, feel lazy, or just need HQ period right now, you're the type I'll buy from.

That's the thing, you don't need it. You take a look at the MB and see the HQ items in large stacks and say oh well I will just buy the NQ items and 100% HQ the vanya robe I am going to make anyways.

Except, you do need HQ mats to 100% HQ items when your leveling crafting classes. Its not possible to HQ all the time with just the level 15 cross-class skills and default skills when crafting things near your level. You are relying on luck most of the time. But I don't buy them because they are either to many in a stack and slightly overpriced ,not going to buy a HQ stack for 3-10 times the cost of a NQ stack, (I can almost always make at least 1 out of 3 times HQ, so it equal to cheaper just to go with NQ) Or they arevastly overpriced not spending 10-20k on a stack of 5.

On topic. As a gather/crafter I generally go with wards. Getting a 1-2 hundred shards/crystals when you out harvesting a stack eases the need or cost of getting shards. If I already have enough of that type that is available there. If the item is something used in my current crafting level, I go with Unearth 2 and keep the, for personal use. If it something I out leveled the need for HQ(like on my weaver for moka grass/cotton bolls) I gi with Yield and sell whatever HQs I get,

My comment was more directed towards level 50 gathering. While leveling up, sure, you kind of need HQ mats to get HQ results. But at 50, HQ mats have become increasingly unpopular. I tend to put 5-10 HQ cocoons, darksteel ore, logs on the AH and they still take quite a while to sell (sometimes days) whereas my NQ mats usually sell within minutes. This is primarily due to high supply of HQ mats and low demand. As I said before, at 50 with decent crafting gear (not hard to get) and some cross class abilities it's not that difficult to make HQ items from NQ mats.

As for price, HQ mats costing way more per item would normally be justifiable. They are much more difficult to get after all. However, when they offer little to no benefit over NQ, then of course no one wants to buy them.

To sum it up: Why spend more money for the same result? As most lvl 50 crafters know, there is no reason.
