Fresh WHM lvl 50

I'm going to be hitting level 50 real soon. What would you recommend the first thing I do. If I have reasonable gear at level 50 can i hang in AK/WP or how should I start farming for the better gear?

If you can find a reasonable party (most likely not Duty Finder), you can try pushing through Wanderer's Palace a few times to upgrade to the Warlock's set of gear. And if you have friends and/or tolerant shellmates / Company mates, you can run Amdapor Keep several times, getting yourself Strategos gear while getting tomestones.

I might also recommend leveling up Thaumaturge for the Swiftcast ability.

My FC regularly runs WP and AK though I don't want to go in completely under-geared. Want to at least make an effort. I'm a 49 weaver so should be 50 at same time as WHM.

You could make the ilvl 55 set (the Imperial Operative stuff) if you have the mats. Probably won't be able to HQ it right at 50, tho.

you are definitely going to want to get swiftcast from THM before you try Titan or harder, its unbelievable how much of a great tool that is. You have a few choices though you can run WP and get some upgrades, or sense your a healer and have AF gear more than likely you could chain queue for CM with around a 5m wait in between and farm tomestones that way until you feel comfortable with the dungeons and get some Darklight pieces.

Ultimately though you want the dungeons to at least cap your mythology every week at 300, the hard primals also give some but a lot less, and without a good farm group its not worth it " for farming" but they are still HELLA fun.

I took a different route then most and many will argue about the way I went about it, as most go for their relic+1.

I ran AK and got a chest and hat then replaced all other pieces of Artifact gear with darklight accessories included minus the cowl being that it is the head slot and chest in one, but the AF2 has a separate hat and chest. The Af2 hat and chest were the first Mythology pieces I picked up, my cure I is up to around 880 avg on a non war and heals for high 900's to 1ks on a war. The chest piece alone increased my heals by like 50 "cure I" The extra hp's are nice as well. Folks will argue you can get the same effect with crafted Vanya, but the magic and physical defense is a lot lower not to mention if your not crafting it yourself they are ridiculously expensive on the auction house and THEN you have to meld material into them. When you can be lazy farm Myth tomes and get basically the same thing with more defensive attributes.

From your storyline you should be pretty close to getting a DL belt. I did CM another 2 times to get the belt, crafted some HQ 49 jewelry, got a prerelic (Madman's Whispering Rod) and with that I started farming WP through DF, upgrading gear whenever something better dropped, but mainly I just grinded out my DL set right there. I also got the Ifrit weapon during that time, since that fight is just as easy. Especially as a healer you get nearly instant queues for it and (from my experience) it's very rare that you fail it.

More than an i55 weapon and not completely underlvld items on the stuff that isn't AF isn't really needed for WP if you know what you're doing. I also DFed the entire time, so it's really not that bad. If you can get a GC 55 weapon or HQ prerelic, 49 jewelry and the DL belt you're set for WP. If you got the time/patience you can just skip AK altogether and grind WP for full DL, especially since the upgrade from WP to AK is only 5 ilvls, you might as well just grind DL as fast as you can.

As said you should also really get Swiftcast, it's an incredible skill. Especially the ability to skip the Raise casttime means you can revive people at pretty much any moment, rather than having to hope the tank survives the cast.

Follow your job/class/storyline quests up to 50 and level up other classes for any useful cross class abilities. Then move on to endgame.

I farmed for that whm shield in WP forever to go with my garuda wep and never got it. I got my relic finally so I guess I don't care.

I would hope that your Free Company would be reasonable in regards to Wanderer's Palace.

It is a level 50 dungeon that will upgrade your Job Quest armor to iLevel 52 through iLevel 55 items. If they're expecting speed runs that factor in iLevel 70 through iLevel 90 gear, that's not very reasonable, and I suspect there are several company mates who will understand that and be willing to work with you.

And if they ask you to do Duty Finder, you may end up wasting your time, as you will encounter many players who will drop parties at the mere sight of seeing someone without a relic and/or without Darklight or better on.

Castruum and Praetorium also does not yield Mythology and the gap between between you and it will take longer to gear up as you don't have stepping stone gear to help you do the content faster.

If you still want to put forth your best effort to meet them, see if you unlock the Grand Company weapon of your class/job or seek out a high-quality Madman's Whispering Wand. Try to upgrade your accessories to iLevel 48ish Mind accessories and a comparable belt.

Anyhew, hope this helps some.

Ask a friendly LS/FC group to teach you AK and start running that for Strategos gear set (head, body, hands, belt, feet, legs, earring, neck and ring). You can heal AK perfectly fine in full AF gear as your party members don't really even need much healing during the whole run. You also get Mythology and Philosophy tomestones from AK, mythology is used for purchasing relic gear and relic+1 weapon (need 900 for +1), philosophy is used for purchasing darklight gear and relic weapon (need 900 for relic). Get full set of strategos gear and a few darklight pieces and you can heal anything up to Titan hardmode.

For weapon, get the GC weapon and with that, you can try to get the darklight shield from Wanderer's Palace. From GC try to upgrade to Garuda weapon before going for relic.

Thanks to all!! Downside with the GC lvl 50 weapon is I need to complete AK before I can unlock the level 50 weapon and I haven't ran AK yet on my other level 50. I'm fate grinding, <not a scrub player, I know how to play I know how to heal>, so I should be level 50 by the end of the weekend. Thanks again for everyone who posted, huge help!
