Question: as a PLD what should be melded into a rose gold ring?

i have no idea about materia for any classes and i have looked quickly through recent posts to see if anythings there about materia. so what should i get melded into a rose gold ring? the only options i can see is vit or parry.

after talking to a goldsmith i have been convinced that the rose gold ring is garbage and i should get a Gryphonskin Ring instead can meld better stats into it.

please correct me if i am wrong.

Just FYI, any stats that are already on an HQ piece by default (in your case, VIT/Parry/Accuracy) are already at their cap.

If you try to meld a stat that is already capped on an item, it will tell you that the materia will have no effect.

The Gryphonskin ring gains the extra primary stat (Dexterity, of questionable value) while swapping a tanking stat for a mediocre DD one.

it serves double duty on Dragoon.

Capping out VIT on the gryphonskin is harder (it needs a T4 + T3 unless you plan on using three slots for that), and they're both more expensive than STR materia on my server.

You could put determination instead, or DEX if you really want it.

good point Adamar maybe rose gold is the way to go still but i guess ill end up with both sooner or later maybe.. what is the usual hq chance from getting one crafted?

Gryphonskin gains STR/DEX/Skill speed in exchange for VIT/Parry. 3 stats for 2.

The VIT cap is 10, so a IV (+8) and a II (+2) will get you there. That leaves you 2 slots to cap Parry (2 IIIs) and one slot to put whatever, I'm going to go with Crit. You end up trading 3 crit (on your ring) in exchange for 9 DEX and 9 Skill Speed.

well i am still trying to decide what ring to get made. rose gold or gryphonskin. what Adamar said with what hes done looks good to me. if i get told this is the best option then that is what i will do.

I'd just go the Gryphonskin, really. But either way it's going to cost you an arm and a leg: 18 tome items (2250 tomes or however much that costs in gil on your server) plus hundreds of thousands of gil on materia.

If you find a competent crafter who has all the required skills HQ is an easy guarantee.
