[ HMMM ] BST= Beastmaster as next class ... ALL WILL /bow

Given the number of mobs we have in game as well as the types of classes....

Requirements are steep:
30 Marauder
15 Archer
15 Conjurer
15 Arcanist

While the requirements for unlock are higher than any other, the benefits gained by charm make it a fun challenge to unlock. A feeat worthy of any true beastmaster. It also encourages the leveling of healers.

It would only make sense to bring back our beloved Beastmaster class to charm all those terrifying mobs with. Truely a pet class worthy of being in FFXIV.

Would be nice to have a REAL pet class in the game, instead of a class that has a pet that does things on it's own.

I don't know how it would work - especially in dungeons but you can't have BST without tame. And Yoshi specifically mentioned a 'beast tamer' class.

Given how the summons are currently handled, I don't really think SE would make it any more complicated than that. You can decide where they go, when they attack, who they attack, what abilities they use; sure, there could be a bit more control over when pets use their special attacks, but I feel it's decent enough as is.

That said, I hadn't considered making BST branch out from MRD. It's not a bad idea. My only question would be if BST would better function with Charm or Pet jugs (maybe equipped in the unused Shield slot for MRD) or some combination of both... like the ability is Charm if no jug is equipped and Call Animal if one is.

I definitely want BST and I would certainly level BST... but hopefully it wouldn't be yet another DPS job/class.

My best guess is that it would be something like in other games where you "tame" a monster and it's added to your collection to summon when needed. Would have a collection of about 2-4 monsters at a time. A basic attack set of 3-4 attacks used when under "auto-attack" function, and 1 special attack used under "sic" or something. When a new monster is tamed you have to get rid of one in your collection.

That is my best assumption based off of the current pet system. Meaning, SMN/SCH have 3/2 summons respectively, with 4 moves and SMN gets a special attack.

As much as I would love to see a BST class. I just don't see it being much different than SMN, which is upsetting. Hopefully they will put an innovative spin on BST to make it interesting and fun to level.
