In-game Titles. What's the point?

I truly don't understand the point of the in-game titles like "Archmage" etc. Which I don't deny, I worked my butt off for the Archmage title, but i felt no sense of accomplishment being that, I don't believe other players can see said titles, plus at the same time, they grant not additional bonus' (Which I've seen done in other MMO's) and they're just.....there kinda. So what's the use for or purpose of titles? I'd personally hunt the titles if I knew there was some form of self reward or something for going after them. Is there some form of perk to them in 2.1 or something? Or am i missing something current about them that I'm unaware of?

Im not sure about rewards, but I know you can show them by clicking it in the Character screen.

They're cosmetic rewards for accomplishing more-or-less optional content.

If they had actual value to certain titles or achievements, like stats or something, players would be more-or-less forced to complete them in order to stay competitive.

Would REALLY like to see these titles display beneath your name plate in game.

I believe other players can see your titles when they examine you. They're listed right above your name in the screen that pops up. At least mine is when I examine myself lol

People see your title when they look you up on the Lodestone or examine you in game.

Why would there be a perk or a use for them? They show up in your profile when you or others examine your character. It's just a way to display something you achieved.
