I have been debating this for a while; is it worth it to have my R+1? over my AF2 coat? as the relic doesn't give DET/CRIT at +1 does it?

Well, the allagan piece that would be the alternative would be from turn 5 in coil, which noone has beaten yet, properly.
The +dmg from the book will improve your heals far more than any det given from the af1+1.
Relic + 1 easily. I debated this question forever when I was choosing. The magic dmg u get from +1 and the scaling makes it a better choice than the extra crit and stats u get from the body. IMO, if u have the money or craft skills, go for vanya hat and robe and material with crit and vitality (for turn 5, you need a vitality threshold as healer). Then go for your plus 1 and then save up for other slots. Keep in mind as someone mentioned already that the body drops in turn 5
Chest is not bad investment of myths especially if you have or can get head from coil 2 too, also I think slightly more defence health and mana outweights slightly more healing. Unlike damage dealers who have damage or burst checks, healers have mana and global cooldown management checks, and if extra defence can spare you 1 gcd on selfhealing until more relaxed time it can be difference between dead or alive person in raid.
P.S. And Darklight cowl gets old very fast imho, woot for no hoods.
My opinion is, the scholar robes are super ugly, so I would much rather get the nice book instead and try to get allagan stuff =D
Relic +1 then legs t2. Our chest drops from Turn 4...the legs for healers don't drop until Turn 5. There is no reason at all to get any of the AF2 pieces except for lega and 1 ring/whatever other accessory doesn't drop in Coil. I am in full dark light with AK boots and I can heal turn 1-4 with ease. Relic +1 then legs. Otherwise wait till your gear drops IMO. I don't see a rush to get pointless AF pieces when the dungeon doesn't call for it quite yet.
