Pad players using a push-to-talk button for voice chat?

Hey all. When I played FFXI and went on vent with my LS I used a pad, but used the R1 button on my dualshock controller as my push-to-talk key. Pretty simple, worked easy since that button never really was used for anything else.

However I can't think of a single button on the controller that isn't used for something in ARR. Currently I use a button on my mouse for this, but I can't talk as freely as if it was a button on the controller.

For any pad players who use voice chat what do you hit to talk? Or anybody, any idea of what button on the controller would be best to use as your push-to-talk button?

First person view is worthless so I just skipped the R3 / Right Stick button in calibration and use that as my PTT button.

Ah good idea, I'll have to try that; much as I dislike the R3 button that could work.

Another option is just to clear Start, and make a custom crossbar that is disabled from your R1 rotation and has all the menu items so you don't need to fiddle with the main or mini-menus.

It actually sounds like a good idea and I should probably try that out...

Or just give Start the function of R1 and you can use R1 for PTT!

This is getting complicated lol

The only problem with that is that I need to use R1 to switch hotbars sometimes, and that's easier to hit than start.
