WARNING: Potential spoilers!
Before I begin, I would like to apologize if this idea has already been brought up by someone before me. I have done a search on these forums, and have found no thread of the like. The idea came to me as I was reading the feedback of those who feel they have nothing to do end-game.
New Game +:
In most single-player RPGs, New Game + allows you to, after completing the story, start all over again with your earned currencies, items, and maybe even EXP. For an MMORPG, particularly FFXIV, this is how I see it can work:
After you have completed the quest Rock the Castrum, you may speak to the Adventurers' Guild representative of your chosen starting city in order to start over the main scenario. In order to compensate for the lack of side quests (assuming you did them all), the main scenario quests in a New Game + playthrough will wield increased rewards.
For the Grand Companies, there are two possibilities:
1. New Game + will present you an opportunity to change your allegiance.
2. The quests The Company You Keep (Twin Adder, Maelstrom and Immortal Flames), Wood's Will Be Done, Till Sea Swallows All and For Coin and Country will be skipped.
New Game + can be done either an infinite number of times or the same number of available classes, and once a new class is added so to shall an opportunity to begin New Game + again.
Why would you do this? This system, at least in my opinion, would be a good and exciting way to learn a different class after you have mastered one with your first main scenario playthrough, as it is a slower pace than FATEs and you are not under preasure and high expectation in a dungeon as you try to learn your new class. I also believe this system would further complement the armoury system.
Now, what do you think?
