WAR skill Inner Beast

Hey all, I've noticed some inconsistency with Inner Beast. At times, it gives what looks like the 300% self-heal (didn't do actual math, it just looks like around 3x as much at a glance), and yet sometimes it heals for less than the damage actually was. I actually had it heal me for 1 whole damage once last night.

I experimented a little with it, and for some reason it seemed to give less when following Maim and more when following Butcher's Block combo. Does anyone know what's up with this? I thought it was supposed to always be 300% self-heal, and I'd like to know how to keep it as high as possible if it's "Up to 300%" (which it doesn't say in the description).

I've been thinking about running some tests on this but haven't really had time. I landed an Inner Beast on a boss, was almost dead, and got 2013 HP back (highest so far I think) I'm usually not really watching the #'s when I swing though, and I don't run a parser.

I usually hit Berserk, Blood Bath, Convalescence, then SC Storm's Eye, and THEN pop IB. Typically get's me ~1K HP from bosses. I try and use my cooldowns so I can do 2 at a time, while at low health. Circling back to your post, sometimes, without noticing the exact #'s, It looks like I don't get healed as much, and I think my 2013 was indeed after a Butcher's Block.

My Inner Beast doesn't even work..

Are you noticing this on mobs with low health?

Inner Beast returns a heal proportion to the actual damage done, rather than the raw damage done, so if your target has less health than the amount of damage your hit would have done, then you would get less. The floating numbers that you see are the raw damage and not the actual health reduced from the mob. It's easy enough to test, get something low then hit it with Inner Beast to finish it off, you should always get a small amount back.

If you're seeing this behavior on mobs that have plenty of health left, then that would certainly be a different issue.

Yea like not at all, it never enables. I stack up Wrath and it still never actually enables. At least yours is working eh?

I want to say that I've noticed it on mobs in general, but tonight I'll get on and test the theory.

This is mostly correct, except it's not just damage dealt. It's more like a life steal so if the mob doesn't have as much HP left as you are supposed to be healed for you will only get healed for the mobs remaining HP. You can Inner Beast a mob and not kill it and still only get like 300-600 HP when you should have gotten 1.5k+.

Ok, I think that might've been my problem. I did SV and it seemed to work very well every time. I never got the chance to hit anything close to death with it to see if that's what brought it down, but it consistently did what it's supposed to do. If I start noticing any issues and it *isn't* because of low enemy HP, I'll post about it on this thread. Thanks!

I thought this was an accepted bug and the heals are not working correctly when attacking something with low health. It should still give you back the 300%. I have never had an inner beast hit that low unless the mob is close to death. My weakest now is about 750.
