so i was going through haukke manor earlier as an arcanist. we get to the first mini boss and clear the enemys outside the door and are about to continue when all of a sudden my carbunkle runs ahead into the boss room and starts attacking o,.,O!
no one had so much as enterd the room yet and i didnt order him to do that... x,.,x
was just wondering if anyone had seen a pet do that before?
carbunkle jenkins?
All pets do this for whatever reason occasionally - It probably shares AI behavior with monsters in terms of coding somewhere that bugs them out.
I was in a dungeon once with my SMN friend, and we had a carbuncle suddenly go on a rampage, run ahead of us, and pull a group. o_O
Often actually you need to put them on Obey, that way they don't flip out and charge in. :)
Actually had a summoner in one of my parties accidentally pull the boss out of the room and onto us, simultaneously locking us out for a brief bit. Made me laugh.
ah i see...guess its just something im going to have to get used to then.

As a scholar I sometimes had this problem when doing Ifrit. If your pet survives the fight and you queue for it again. As soon as the protective circle disappears your pet pulls aggro instantly. Only way to fix this is to dismiss your pet and call it again.
In Haukke Manor, you fight a mob (one of this strange eye, forgot the name) wich run into boss room at low life.
Your Carbuncle isn't noob at all ! You told him to attack this eye until death and he actually do it.
Poor little shiny pet, he just want to obey his master T.T
(So, just put carbuncle into defense/passive stance right before CS in this dungeon to avoid this)
I was tanking a AK run and the healers fairy decided to go pick a fight with a succubus who tossed a fireball on her head. Didn't matter if it had to go through two packs to get to her, the little bugger was on a mission.
Pets are loose cannons at times.
