Summoner / Scholar Flip Flop

IF I have all my character points into INT since summoner is my main and I flip flop to Scholar for heals, will there be a noticeable difference in my healing ability since I don't have points into MND/PTY? Full darklight set and relic for each summoner and scholar flip flop. To clarify I'm only talking about the lack of points into Mind/Piety on my CHARACTER points since i wont feel like buying reset tome each time I switch.

The difference is roughly equivalent to changing tiers on your left side gear.

So,

INT SCH in DL = MND SCH in Strategos
INT SCH in AF2 = MND SCH in DL

...roughly.

In reality I didn't feel that I was unable to heal anything, but of course, noone's going to take you unless you have DL gear for Coil, and if you're willing to sink in the time for that, a couple hymns isn't too much to ask.

As a SMN I was able to heal as an INT sch in strategos everything up till coil (which i haven't tried).

It really depends on your ability to manage shielding well and being efficient with your heals.

The difference in points will effect your heals on all lvls. so while you can do coil, you may have to work harder to keep up on heals.

For those using sum or sch. the best option is to pick one. While the stat loss might not be much, there are plenty of times where you do not have time to cast a spell on top of the one you just cast. I will never say it can not be done, but why make things harder on you and your team?

The difference isn't too much, heck you can dump all your stats. to somewhere else and won't see any difference at all. Talking from a POV who knows a SCH who dumped her points to VIT.

I just did Titan with my scholar last night in full DL, Titan weapon, and all my points in INT for summoner. We beat it in one try.

Ideally, you should have more points in MND... it will make your job easier, but keep in mind that your 'clutch' heal (Lustrate) is 20% HP healed -- regardless of your gear. It specifically says 20%. Your Sacred Soil causes your party to take 90% of damage it would have taken -- base, not affected by MND. So, if you are playing correctly, the only thing that will REALLY be negatively affected are your Physick, Succor, and Adloq. So... it's possible to play. Not ideal, but possible.

If you plan to play both classes equally, an even split between INT and MND is acceptable. -15 of a base stat is not as dramatic as -30. I'll never do that though because if I am asked to play a healer, I have WHM available.

Someone ran basic tests on 30 int vs 15 int/mind, the loss was ~3.5%, while 15 int is ROUGHLY 3.3% of his total int.

Doing the math from that, you'd end up between a 6-7% healing loss. If that's acceptable, no issue; or.. you could do what he did, respec to 15/15, 3.5% won't make or break anything.

Long and short of it: You could invest zero stat points while leveling and be perfectly functional. Your gear is a far more critical variable in the equation. If you are going to role swap (like I do) then I recommend you go with MND rather than INT. Scholars heal on the idea of smaller heals more often, so anything you can do to skew those figures up is handy. Plus, while in Scholarly form, you get to double dip those points via Cleric Stance and "Stance Dancing" (ie enter stance, drop dots, drop stance, heal, repeat).

A summoner with no additional +int seems to always powerful. If you don't care about healing, then go INT/PIE. If you like to have flexibility, then go MND, VIT, or some sort of split.

If you cannot decide, then go 15/15 and just have fun.

Healing is not a min/max profession, never has been. Always leeway on faster vs higher heals, player skill involved (no real "rotation"), very very different damage profiles on all encounters, etc. Thus healing has rarely been a throughput issue, mostly a playstyle issue. Having more MND doesn't really change that.

While damage has always been, bring the person that does the most damage.

In this regard, it doesn't make sense to ever go MND, if you ever think you are going to do damage. Damage is about min/maxing, and so go all INT.

What was said above is basically how I approach the issue. My smn is what I do coil with and dps is very much a min/max race, so I put everything into int. For me, my sch is just a way for me to take some of the load off our primary healers when people want to run ak/wp, which I’m totally fine with.
