Bots, Reporting, and that Blacklist

So the gold bot spam is really just getting atrocious at this point. I logged in today and before the zone could even get past the Now Loading screen, I had 6 gold spam whispers. My Blacklist is pushing 200 easily, and every one of them is a gold spam bot.

The issue with dealing with them is that the report system is...Archaic...at best. Having to open the Support Desk then the Contact Us then Report Cheating and finally, the actual report screen. You need the name, the zone, the date, the server....really?

What you need to do is allow us to simply right click the names -

• If it's a gold seller, right click their name in chat and - Report Player - Botting

This option reports the player name, the server, and the date.

• If it's a gathering bot (teleporting between nodes) target the player, right click the player and - Report Player - Hacking

This option reports the player name, the server, the zone, and the date.

Clicking the option shouldn't open a window where we have to fill out a bunch of information. Clicking it should file an automatic report with your GM's / Quality Control - Assurance Team, or whatever they may be called. They should monitor the much simpler and quicker reports and deal with the bots.

On the same note, adding players to the Blacklist needs to be streamlined as well. Opening the window and typing out these gibberish names is just as archaic as the reporting system. Add an option in that right click menu to Blacklist the player.

I totally agree. Has anyone heard anything about this? Has SE said they are going to make it easier to blacklist/report gold spammers in a future update or do they really think the current method is acceptable?!

i think you should be able to blacklist people from chat bar! it's annoying having to type the spammers name out all the time especially when it's like Fgdfytfhfh Fgdfg... have it as a right click option!

This is a great forum topic although i am not sure why it had to be started in the 1st place. SE should have taken the initiative and known things like this were going to happen. its not our faults we get gold spammed but there isn't much we can do about it. why do we need to suffer with a basic garbage system when we should have had right click menus for blacklisting and such from the get-go? great job thinking ahead with this one SE.

I posted this in another thread but you can easily blacklist any RMT /tell's immediately by creating a macro or typing:

/blist add <r>

<r> is the last person to /tell you.

The message to blacklist the player will pop up directly after that and you just have to click OK.

A right click would help but the above is a solution till then if their names are weird and/or long.

First of all these are not all of the ideas I have on the subject but they are the easiest so far to implement and would make a huge dent in the cheating going on. For starters Square-enix could start with the Gil sellers and power leveling sellers who obviously advertise on the chats then go from there. This happens On EVERY Server - some more than others however. That may be large in part to the amount of people on servers or the ability to log into certain servers at certain times; however that would be a big a start by having people on each server who are Square-enix security staff for 8 hour play shifts that not just ban the player character account but ban the whole game account due to the fact that they only have these accounts to advertise their services to make money selling gil and power leveling people..

Agreed! They should make a system like Tera, where u can right click a name to report it, and a comments box will open for you to put in some brief description.

With the current setup, we actually have to spend 5 mins of our mining time just to report them. I have gotten so annoyed at the reporting system, that I have already stopped doing it.



As a side note, SE banning the source of the RMT is insufficient. Sure RMT distorts the market, but it is the atrocious spam that annoys the players much much more, and they have yet to delete more than 5 chars off my already full blacklist of 200 ppl. SE should put in harsher restrictions on shouts, because it is a place for quick notifications, not a place for a lengthy conversation, and should not allow anybody to post more than 1-2 times a minute really.

I totally agree! Because the system is so archaic I didn't even know you could report people at first :P They should make it easy for us to help make this a better game to play.

That won't stop people moving to other public chat channels such as Yell for people to converse, but I agree that someone who's literally posting 20+ times in 30 second blocks is excessive

Reporting gold spammers should be in every game from the start, it only protects the integrity of the game. As well as reporting hacking and all illegal play.
