Title says it all, its getting beyond rediculous. Enough is enough.
I'd like to see a larger contribution on single target abilities and make AoE's count as 1 point regardless how many NPC's it hits, so if there is 10 mobs spawned, they will only get contribution from hitting one mob out of the 10.
I would think this fits into a broader category of rewards for tagging mobs, which I see as one of the more irritating aspects of FATEs. If people could avoid playing like slavering lunatics and not tag spam everything the instant it spawns with whatever is available (flash being a huge offender), there is some chance to slow FATEs down.
On the other hand, I expect that even if you nerf the contribution from the AoE, people are going to continue doing it just because they can. Facerolling AoE is pretty much a no brainer when there are thirty other people there with you and they will down any pack of mobs before they have a chance to all agro the annoying THM that just started the AoE. AoE without any consequences is the fantasy of every boy or girl.
I think the main problem is that for classes with a cast time, most things will die before you tab to them and get your single target cast off. I remember trying to level my Conjurer, trying to kill things in fates like I did while solo, but things died before I could get even 1 Stone off. Tagging things with insta cast aero was the only way I could get any contribution.
to get rid of the aoe/tab dot spamming, you really need to rework the whole system, increase mob health, factor in damage done rather than # of mobs tagged, something like that.

This should be incorporated in to it and trust me, when people start getting Bronze from spamming AoE, they will stop quick smart.
