I am confused about the housing in 2.1. Can someone explain?

So the live letter tells us that only FC housing will be available at launch.

But what those FC housing imply?

Is it one big house for all the FC members to use?

Is it one 30 house instances for member to build houses on?

Or something else?

I am really confused, i am leveling my craft jobs in preperation and i am trying to save some gils but i just don't what to expect for 2.1 anymore.

Can anyone enlight me on this?

The vid should be uploaded soon but it will likely be in Japanese so you can read the notes at the link to supplement what they said or look for player base translations until something official is released but all of the questions and answers from the live letter are in that official thread.

Basically the housing section will have 30 houses or 30 plots of land per instance, meaning you need to zone into the next section of 30 houses or plots. They will add more as needed.

Plots of land will be auctioned at a scale of changing price that gets cheaper with time. You need land to put a house on, and it is kind of like setting a limit break you see a target and drag the item to it then click to make the decision permanent. All this is illustrated in the you tube video of the live letter.

Until later patches, houses can only be bought as a group through FC or Free Company membership. Later individual houses will be available [dev said about half a year after the first housing is released]. Free companies can be started by one person [master] who needs the signature of two other players. Free companies rank up through various means and I imagine they will have some bearing on what FC rank you have to be to buy land.

The free company buys the land and buys components to make/design the house. Gatherers, crafters make these components too. They said crafters an gatherers will have an equal as possible role in creating components but some might be unbalanced.

Purely Hypothetical Example from my imagination: Paint made by Alchemist, curtains made by Weaver with dye from Alchemist with pigment gathered by Botanist or maybe Fisher, rods by Armorers or Blacksmiths =metalworkers, lumber by Carpenters with wood by Botanist. Boarskin rug made by Leatherworker with hide drops from mobs but tanned with Alumen made by Alchemist. Fishtank or a wall mounted fish plaque with fish from Fishers [but fishtanks are not official yet]. Furniture also made possible with drops from mobs like Behemoth horn?

Free company masters can delegate the privileges given to members of the free company regarding control of the house mods/furniture. The house privileges are decided by the master so how much of a group activity, decorating the house and occupying the house will be, is determined by:
a. The privilege settings the Free Company Master sets for members.
b. How much freedom SE allows FC Masters to set for FC members.
c. Breaking or dissolving a FC can only be done by deleting the house first.
