wow...now getting spam from RMTbots on my black list

Spam bots are everywhere yes, but by far the most offensive (atleast on sargatanas) is always in Ul'Dah where is spams huge blocks of text (I thought SE put a limit on shouts per minute or something...), always has a really hard to type name, and now even after blocking the bot, it gets spams through the filter every so often. ugh -_-.

these spambots always put up there webaddresses....can't SE put in a filter to block any shouts with these address and flag accounts for inspection ?

Putting up filters to block out websites really won't work, as the bots will always find a way to circumvent those filters (hence the gratuitous spacing you might see in their messages).

I'm fairly sure that SE is aware of these bots, but are waiting to track down the rest of the RMT chain so they can take out the source rather than treat the symptoms. If not, then, well...

he wouldn't even have to watch all shouts. it could just start listing shouts from someone that does more then X for closer examination.

I hate them as much as you do, but at this point there's not much else we can do but blacklist them, report them, and try to ignore the /shouts or /tells that leak through the blacklists. Hopefully SE does shut down the entire system soon, so we'll all be happier.

this wouldnt solve the problem, and shouts are only half the problem....harder to watch the /tell bots. Why jump the gun and take out the spammers, when you can try to use them to trace the distributors.

As for spam filters....they do have them, and update them regularly. which is why you see the shouts wording change constantly to avoid filters. Also their shout limit was put in place so that if you shout the same thing so many times, your blocked.....however if you change your wording abit then it doesnt register. Which is why at the end of their shouts you see different letters everytime.

Nah, that's too hard for them.

It's not random that they get through your blacklist. When you open your social window, the blacklist takes a second or so to load, and messages will get through in that time.

Is this only on NA servers? because I never see RMT spam....ever. I was thinking of transferring to a NA server since I am in NA but this plus the "crossroads chat spam" may make me stay. Only thing is it's seems like it will be hard to get a group once I finalize my crafting classes and start on the DOW/DOM road. Are they going to offer paid transfers later?
