I've given in.
The second I heard about fairies I was against the SCH. I admit, that's stupid but it's true.
Now, the game is so full of WHM everywhere(tons of WHM in my guild) and more coming since people say it's the "best" healer, or "easier" healer. People are giving SCH so much hate but I've seen people who know what they're doing make my WHM almost unneeded occasionally in some 8man content so it just seems it requires more skill from my perspective. And that's appealing to me, very much so.
The more I'm trying it out and reading the strategic uses of, and mechanics of their spells the more I'm regretting being 1 titan kill away from WHM relic. I'm almost 50 with my SMN and now I'm thinking I'm going to pop on all of my Healer DL gear and start my SCH relic quest.
Thank you for changing my mind. And damn you all.
PS: I still want pet macros.

DO IT JOIN THE DARK SIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
honestly SCH is awesome and getting better with the new update used correctly WHM don't even have to heal most of the time! they are both amazing healers and none is better than the other IMO but SCH is a beast I mean I've even made dps look bad in dungeons hoe much faster I can speed up a run just from popping cleric's and throwing down dots while my fairy heals everyone on rouse. out healed WHM on titan and coil easily and with even more throughput now we are truly the ideal single target healer, WHM will always be the best raid healer but SCH is here to stay!
The ppl hating don't understand how SCH works join us and you will love SCH I am sure!

I have loved scholar ever since I started, and that was with the fear that there would be tons of them because they were the flavor of the month class. I mean when i first started and saw as many carbys in limsa i just wanted to cry. When i first saw them I went back to conj, then i just decided to say the hell with it and kept leveling and i am glad i did. I don't like healing anymore as a whm, i prefer the difficulties and planning a scholar requires. I am leveling my conj to 34 to get my last cross class skill and then i it is back to scholar for life. Also, i know this sounds weird but i prefer hate on a class, keeps the people who are there just because out, but if you really enjoy the class you'll stick with it.For example I loved Ret pallies even when they were in the shits and required magic damage to increase certain skill damage, as well as attack power, and balancing all that along with the fact they are support but still need to do amazing dps to get any invites. When you did it right you got the kudos and that is how scholar is, when i do it right, and i often do, people take note and tell me. Sooo i hope they keep hating the class, and we'll just keep proving them wrong.

SCH appears more interesting than it actually is. When you realise you get little control over your pet, you realise it's quite similar to a WHM. When they allow you to actually use the Fairies abilities when you please, then it'll be much more interesting.

Scholar is a lot of fun. I like micro-managing the faery... and because you have a lot of damage prevention tools, in an intense fight there is *always* something to be doing. Also, again because of its damage prevention and crisis management, you can literally drag a group of bads through a PUG with a scholar. I imagine WHM can do the same thing, but I feel like SCH is more fun to play. And when healing isn't as important, you have the potential to add a lot of damage to the group through Selene's haste buffs and your own Cleric Stance + damage over time abilities.

I imagine if SE addressed some the pet issues I'd be more interested in trying the SCH class. Until then, WHM it is.

Pet issues aside, they are SOMEWHAT manageable with pet on steady and hotkeys for Whispering and whichever buff increases heal potency. Do I find it annoying that I can't simplify this with one button? Yes.
That said, on joining the ranks of the erudite...

You will miss the AoE healing though.

I enjoy both in their own ways. I raid more with my WHM because we have another SCH but I prefer doing dungeons with my SCH so I dont have to manage my threat. Both classes are competent as long as they are played by decent players.
