I was watching a Lightning Returns demo and I couldn't help but notice the Chocobo Eater.
The first time I ever saw one was in FFX, and I was somewhat surprised one showed up, for I had never really given any thought to a Chocobo's place in the Final Fantasy ecosystem.
But, now I do, and I have to ask if it has been made clear if a chocobo has natural predators in FFXIV.
Probably not, since chocobo breeding is a long standing practice from Ishgard, so there don't seem to be any wild chocobos any more. If there are, I would imagine anole packs, malboros, and coeurls would be the main culprits.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure wild chocobo breeds are extinct, especially as during the Gridanian storyline it's mentioned how difficult it is to actually get a chocobo egg to hatch, presumably requiring special care.
Not to mention during 1.0 the lore-reason why chocobo riding wasn't available at the start of 1.0 service - a plague devastated chocobo flocks across Eorzea and hence the use of chocobos was severely restricted, which probably took care of any remaining chocobos in the wild, meaning their predator was not large, but microscopic.
