Scholar Wishlist.
This is just what I believe would be a great addition to the Scholar class.
Scholar's Fairy (Eos and Selene).
Custom skins for pets. You can choose Fairy, Moogle, or Tonberry
Whispering Dawn should be able to stack.
Heel Command should be changed to have the Pet sit on your shoulder and able to cast without interruption (this will not be OP). This would be great for fights that involve a lot of moving and when traveling. You travel this applies to Summoners too you will always lose your pet if you get aggro from a mob and you have to resummon it. This gets annoying. Either have Shoulder sitting mode or have the pet disapear or not draw aggro when traveling.
Have Fairy abilities have a toggle option.
Fairy abilities should have presets such as cast embrace at 75% health or lowest health party member.

Fairy abilities should have presets such as cast embrace at 75% health or lowest health party member.
Fairy should be larger in size. Subjectively speaking I would say about twice as large as the current model. I would like this to also apply to Summoner pets.
Eos should have a single target Regen (Yes, like WHM).
Selene should have her silence spell removed and replaced with increase magic/physical damage buff or a huge Sacred Soil that mitigates 10% damage and can be stacked with Sacred Soil.
Succor should allows stacks. You can stack up to 3 Succors or get rid of the shield and make a damage mitigation buff of 5% which can be stacked up to 2 stacks for 10% and the shield lasts for 5 secs or until hit.
White Mages get freecure I think Scholars should have an passive ability called Aetherful where when you use Lustrate, Sacred Shield, Succor you have a 25% chance to get a free aetherflow ability.
-
Tonberry Mode. After defeating the Tonberry and with modern technology and medicine you are able to harness the power of the Tonberry while keeping your sanity.
Tonberry Mode: Increases healing and damage by 20% for 20 seconds.
WHM get a protect spell that increases Physical def and magic def. Scholars should get some useful 30 mins buff too. Scholars should have an ability called Academic Influence where you get a 30 min buff increasing your MIND, INT, and PIETY.
-
WHM gets stoneskin that adds 18% up from 10% for other classes. How come WHM gets burst healing, Regen, and mitigation? Scholars need something unique too such as Theory of Essence where you nerf the WHMs healing abilities by 10% LOL JK.
Theory of Essence would be you add a runic properties to you and your party members attacks increasing their dmg by X amount.
Wouldn't it awesome if Summoners and Scholars can equip your pets with pet specific gear? It wouldnt be anything like Relic weapon, but ability enhancing equipment.
Example:
Eos' weapon: Feywood Branch (looks mystical it sparkles and glows). What it does: You can choose 1 of her 4 abilities to enhance. Since I don't want to make this too long I will provide an example Embrace cast time is reduced by 0.5 secs.
Selene's weapon: Fey Spirit Stone (looks magical it sparkles and glows).
If this could possibly make Scholars too OP it can be for vanity purposes similar to what you can equip your Chocobo.
Same applies for Summoners.
Examples:
Ifrit would have Magictek or Behemoth Gear.
Titan would have Boxing gloves
Garuda would have Jet wings.

I don't even know where to start.
You can't just throw suggestions like that around with using "WHM has..." explanations.
You'd create a huge imbalance with your suggestions.
You need to keep levelling up as well as end-game encounters and overall ability sets in mind when you throw around ideas..
WHMs need Freecure because compared to SCH we have no fairy that heals for free MP and we have to manage our MP much more than a SCH. Our spells are more MP intense as well (which is fine since they are also quite powerful).
We have a harder time managing our aggro with our skill set and mechanics. MP management for both classes are completely fine imo.
WHMs don't get the mitigation a SCH gets if you add everything up. You can't just compare a single mechanic to another single mechanics. It's the sum of all mechanics and abilities that needs to be taken into consideration.
While we are at it: Why do SCH get a free battle res (albait later) while whms have to waste a trait to get battle res..just as an example of "you can't just compare a few skills against each-other to do balancing".
Anyway, that's just a short answer. I've been posting on the SCH vs WHM issue several times and I am a bit tired of it. :)
The two jobs are different..they are supposed to be different.
SCH is harder to play than a WHM and needs more thought and understanding imo while WHM is more easy-mode. But both are nicely balanced for what they are supposed to do.
Also bigger fairies..umm no. Pets are already kinda confusing on the battlefield..better fairy controls, yes, absolutely.

My biggest wish list - Giving Scholars traits different than Arcanist/Summoner, or at least something that turns all of our INT traits into MND. Also giving Scholars and Summoners separate attribute points.
Scholars are fairly boring-ish in the variety of heals we use. We mainly use one ability, Physick. Adlo doesn't absorb enough HP in an 8 man to make it worth while using on the tank.
Mechanical changes I'd like:
- Give Physick a trait, or something learned at a specific Scholar level that has a chance (5,10,15% I don't care) to do SOMETHING. Maybe give a free Adlo, maybe a guaranteed crit and or instant cast on the next Adlo, maybe a free Aetherflow stack.
- Either buff Sacred Soil to make it worth using a stack of Aetherflow, or take the Aetherflow requirement off and make it on a 45s-1m CD. If Aetherflow is going to get a direct buff, make it 25-30% damage reduction. If not, give it a mechanic, like while under the effects of Sacred Soil the next Succor heals/bubbles for double potency. It may SOUND overpowered just hearing double potency, but SS has a 30s CD and requires a stack of Aetherflow. This would allow us to actually have AoE healing on par with a WHM, but with different mechanics. It would be true preventative healing.

I'd love to be able to command the Faerie while casting. I would also REALLY LIKE to be able to right click to toggle what skills the Faerie will automatically use.
Selene's silence ability also needs to be looked at. I'd prefer they scrap it, and replace it with a 10% vulnerability debuff that lasts for 10 seconds, on a 2 minute cooldown. That would really cement her role as a support Faerie.
Overall, very happy with Scholar!

I would choose a Tonberry because even if I was a mage, anyone could use a good knife in the back. Gwahahahaha!
++++++++===========================================================++++++++++
Maybe a secondary weapon...
....scrolls
(probably works if you wrap your brain around it a bit, I've seen anime with scrolls used as mystical tools)
*coagh,whips,coagh!*

I would love to have a Tonberry pet! Dat knife.
The fact that the Scholar quests have a lot to do with Tonberry kind of adds to the elements too. Although it makes me sad every time. :\

Once the level cap increases we will see more Pets. Something like a tonberry could be in the works and would be awesome but at the same time would be very Summoner ish since it would probably be a DPS pet because the story tells of the Tonberrys being savage and ragefilled not very healer like attributes ya?
Make obey and sic stances as well or remove them and make us able to select which abilities are auto casted and thus not need to even worry about obey/sic/steady or guard.
That is all.
