Why does not fishing have a real Hunting log?!?
Am I missing something or is there not a real hunting log for fishing? I find this really problematic as I use gathering classes to get material for my crafting classes. It doesn't really help that alot of the fishes that you need wants different kinds of baits (WHICH ARE NOT LISTED ASWELL IN GAME!!!) Heck, all the fishing spots are not listed neighter making it a guessing game where you should get the fishes.
The worst example yet for me is crimson Crawfish. A lv 8 fish in a GRADE 35 FISHING SPOT?!? How in the world am I supposed to even be able to guess it should be there? I better fish in all places that are of proper grade to fill out the list right now to make it easier later on. But I do still not get why there is no proper hunting log. It is terrible, it is really really terrible. 90% of the time I use to obtain materials for crafts are because of fishing. And that says alot considering that less than 1% of the material I use for crafting comes from this single, terribly designed, boring, time consuming, non rewarding profession.
And I have not even gotten started on the terrible baiting system.
Yes, it is good that you need certain bait for certain fish. BUT this SHOULD be listed somewhere. Even RuneScape had sense enough to list what kind of equipment you needed to get the fish you wanted. But no. Even here you need to play a stupid guess game with no winner but the inventory that will win a free pass to the all you can eatville. It is filled even before I start fishing. I can seriously not have a single thing in the inventory before I go fishing because of this guess game. But as it is now I have to try every bait on every fishing spot in the entire world to try to get a specific fish for my craft.
But here is not where my complains about this ridiculous craft stops, oh no.. The terrabad RNG for fishing is what I am about to speak next.
You have somehow figured out both what the fish you hunt lives and likes. Good you think, now I might actually be able to catch it! WROOOOOONG! First you have to pull up 9001 litterally trash fishes that has no use in the game whatsoever beside being sold to vendors to get back the money for the ridiculous amound of every bait type in the game you had to buy to try to fish in in every single fishing spot in the entire game to even get to try to fish up the fish of your choice. Once again, even RuneScape had sense enough to not make you catch fishes with other equipment than the equipment you should use to catch it with. EVEN A F2P GAME HAD BETTER FISHING THAN THIS. Only game I can think of with worse fishing is WoW, but in WoW all crafting and gathering is terrabad beyond repair anyway so that should not come as a shock.
So, finally you have your fish after a process far longer than neccesairy. I know this system pleases some treasure hunter type of players, and I also usually enjoys it. But not when the fact is that I need just one or two types of fish and all the other fishes are litterally trash. Yes, SE really catched the feel of real life fishing with this. Unpredictable and boring.
Thankfully we have the F.I.S.H. google document. That one saves my life. It contains all the information the actually game should have already. Like grades on the fishing spots, locations of the fishes. What food they prefer. I find it a very VERY big flaw that they left out this information from the fishing log until it is unrelevant as I always memorize all this stuff anyway. There is no excuse making it taking me several hours to get a single fish to do a reciept. I know I can just buy it and I know alot of players will use that argument, but that is really no excuse for making fishing almost unplayable as an actuall gathering profesion which it is supposed to be. Everytime I am about to craft and I see a new fish I feel "Oh boy, there my day went into the sink.." It really should not feel that way.
I really like certain parts of the fishing, do not get me wrong. But the very flawed Fishing log is really holding it back for me. What can a fishing log that actually works do for harm? It is not really that hard to program as you clearly did... Just leaving all the spots blank until they are irrelevant.
It is also very seldom I am this vocal. I always try to see why you do certain designer choices but for this one I have no clue. There is noway in hell that an actuall fishing log would make fishing any worse. The only reason I can see this is to make the full fishing log a big e-peen enlarger at the cost of the practical use of the profession. Because that is what a gathering profession is meant to be, a way to gather material for crafting. Practial use over everything.
I really really hope I missed something vital in how fishing work. I hope I am dumb because it is better that I am dumb than that they actually intended for this system to be this severly flawed as it is.
Inb4, you are a lazy noob that just want to get your xp as fast as possible, back in my days you had to explore everything manually. Also, using an internet guide? LOLOLOLOLOLOL. If you want instant win, just buy 50 in all your levels + 10^9001 gil right now so you can also buy all your runs.
I can tell you I am not lazy in game (IRL is another story, but I prefer to call it practical/smart ;* ). If I were I would not even be gathering my own resources, but I see when a system fails at what it was intended for. Gathering is meant to obtain material to craft or sell. This prevents that and the amound of trash fish makes fishing even worse for obtaining gil. If anyone can find a reason why they choose to design it like this, enlighten me, in difference to alot of people on the internet I actually want that. I really do not want to sit here and rant about things like this, but when it fails at it's main purpose I can do nothing but this. As always when I am mad, I want to be proven wrong.
