range of throwing weapons?!

why is the range of throwing weapons completely bogus a lancer can melee at a farther range than i can toss a throwing weapon.... whats the damn point of that....

is.. it? i never encounter this with my throwing weapon. ._.

Throwing weapons are a decent range for their current purpose. It would be kind of pointless to allow it be the same range if not further than what an archer can do -- you're just throwing something that naturally would have less accuracy and power than an archer shooting so it can't have the same calculations.

While I do like using throwing weapons, I do also feel that the range could be increased to that of a taunt/provoke. I picked some throwing daggers up for my GLA a couple of weeks ago to allow me to hit the mob from range before using taunt/provoke, but the range is just too short to allow me to get close enough to hit it without picking up the sight aggro of other nearby mobs. On the other hand, they do the trick to allow you to still deal damage from a distance while waiting for death weakness to wear off so they're not a total loss.

Well aside from the smart ass troll comments on here, I would say, I agree. Range weapons are too short range including bows. They are the same range as provoke and it completely invalidates the point of using a range weapon. I really love the idea of the throwing daggers on my GLA. On ffxi, range weapons I believe was 24 feet and like 15 feet for provoke range with windower distance plugin if I remember it correctly. Very handy distance that the mob won't catch up to you on your way to your party.

I agree with OP. I was stoked to pick up 99 throwing axes at game launch. I still have 86 in inventory and never equip them.

While I agree that rangers should be the most capable at this, i do think that my bad ass marauder should be able to throw an axe, hit the mob in the head for 30 damage and pull it my way.
