[Dev?] Ideas for Guardians and nameday

I just had a few thoughts for guardian deities and namedays, since they do nothing ingame atm:

For Guardians, I was thinking that each deity should have unique bonuses that are always active on the character, based on that deity's element and in-game description

Using Oschon the Wanderer as an example:

Wind affinity +5
Magic Accuracy +2%
Evasion +2%

My other idea for namedays would be for the duration of the day, your character would gain a small bonus in all combat/magic/crafting/gathering stats (say 3~5%). Since the Nameday only comes once in a long while, I doubt it would be game breaking. If you have any other constructive ideas or thoughts, feel free to add them.

Yeahh! Oblivion did it really well. Unfortunately, it would be "unfair" (couldnt think of a better word) for people who's corresponding guardian doesnt buff a certain class. Granted, it makes for a good risk vs reward deciai on, but in a community like this, i'm afraid we'd be getting alot of "oh. No Rhalgr INT boost? Gimp!"


I do hope they do something interesting with it.

I'm kinda curious why we had to pick a nameday (birthday) and garduin for our characters. funny thing is we can have a name day, but "worship" a different diety.

I wouldn't mind seeing some fun buffs on one's own nameday.

I see where you're coming, but since each attribute affects several stats, I was thinking that each deity could enhance only certain traits, like in my example, I stated magic accuracy, but not magic resistance. Also, the bonus isn't exactly ginormous either, so I doubt it would lead to being called gimp

tbh even in the elder scrolls each star sign only give minor stuff. And were just used to enhance you character based on what you wanted to play as. the star signs were also in morrowwind too with similar if not the same buffs. Also the stronger star signs also had a negative, like the elemental rock things achonok or something has the bigger magic pool, but the down side is you didn't regain magicka but had a 50% change of absobing spells. (not all enamies used magic).


Like I made a rdm type class in oblivion and use the warrior star to aid in attack used magic classification to speed up my magic skill learning and set up a mix of combat and magic skills.

Also people ingeneral pull the "gimp" card for nearly everything. Personally no one has any right to tell you how to set up your character Those who think they do, have no life and need a break from gaming.

Why not just have it give the same buff to everyone, but only during the month that the guardian represents?

EDIT: And double the buff on your nameday.

Obviously they don't have the right to say what is wrong or right, but that doesn't mean they have to invite you >.>

This, pretty much. The aspects affected by nameday and guardian need to be more in terms of flavor and have nothing with stats or performance at all.

They had a bunch of ideas for those namedays and deities, but for a reason similar to many others, never got around to implementing it.

If I remember correctly, they said that once they'd implement those effects, they'd let the players change their deity/nameday.
