Anti-Social?
Is it just me or does this "social" game not seem very social at all? I am in three linshells one very full and no chat except to look for dungeon help or something along those lines. In a fate party or party in general, no chat. It just seems this social game is only social in the fact that you have to group for content.

Just gotta try real hard that's all. Try to take the initiative to talk. Now most friends are in TS, skype or any other chat channels that's why linkshells sounds quiet and when your not in those circle of friends it's even worst.

Yes.
It's not as bad a GW2 though....that game is pure anti-social.
This once is close because most things hold your hand.
- Duty Finder.
- FATE.
- Solo Instances.
- Community is generally bad.
FC helps a bit too...LS in my server...lol eh.
-
Have you tried joining a Freecompany? Linkshell seems to be just a convenient place for lv50s to LF things. Not many people join fates to socialize lol.
-
Dunno about yours, but most of the social aspect of my LS/FC is in TeamSpeak. We have voice chat, so we don't really type much XD
-
With voice chat, LS and FCs seem redundant for most people because the voice chat offers more freedom in communication than the usual type and wait for reply method of written words.
Therefore it is hard to find people talking in most FCs/LSs, though in mine we have our little chats once in a while despite most of us playing very sporadically trough the week.

Game really does go out of it's way to make itself as anti-social as possible, but if you find some good friends you can have a blast. Just gotta make some friends and find a LS/FC, use /shout chat to find players for dungeons and never use duty finder is my #1 suggestion. 2.1 adds a same server LFG board which should help a lot.

This game's so socially segmented it's like being in High School all over again. Just replace cliques with companies.

It is as social a game as you make it. You talk to get people talking. When someone talks and it interests you start a convo in fc/ls/shout/say/tell it doesnt matter. If you are talking enough the community starts to feel more connected. Sure it is big enough there are a lot of people you are never going to talk to while you are on, but it is as social a game as any other form of chat. They can develop a game that requires you to be social, but seeing as not every user has a keyboard for this, they do not make it a requirement to get by. That doesn't mean people will not talk
Now things like:
Preventing PMs while in DF
Making the storyline missions solo only
Not able to stay in contact with people from other servers you meet in Duty Finder to chat, and setup other DF events
I think if they brought these, and some others I cannot think of this late at night it would make communication better for what we do have
More could be done with end game to not make people seem like zombies, but there hasn't been a single content expansion release so we are off to a good start, once 24 people are required for content a lot of those smaller tight knit FC/LS are going to be reaching out that is your time to talk

Where in Texas are you from? I used to be on Sargatanas
