The "incapacitated" status makes it so that the enemy behaves as if it were incapacitated. So, for example, if you flashfreeze a goat's head, for those 2 seconds on "incap" debuff, if it does the headbutt move, it will behave as if you had incapped the horns for real.
Unfortunately, most mob incapacitated behaviors hardly make a difference, so it doesn't even matter. The effect is pretty obvious on the buffalo, so that's why it seems like that's all it's good for because functionally, that IS all it's good for, lol.
I don't think it does. I thought this too and still monsters use those TP moves from their incapacitated parts.
skeletons used to behave differently when you blow up their heads. maybe breaking a toads legs makes them fail at gut press, though im not sure about that one. Oh yeah humans with broken legs used to have a movement speed debuff on them for the duration.
The most oblius way to see incapacitation of flashsfreeze it's on buffalos: use it on a leg and you'll see the buffalo laying on the ground. It's also very useful, since in that way he can't attack for a while
I was fighting Cactuar Jack a few days ago and noticed that I was able to interrupt some TP moves using Flashfreeze II. I mean, mob readies Sun Spine > Flashfreeze II > Got "Cactuar Jack's legs are incapacitated" (or something similar; I can't remember the exact message) > Sun Spine fails and the sabotender don't jump THAT TIME.
Anyways, we're gettin' battle system changes, so for me there's no need to worry much about this WS mechanic. I'll check it out by the time battle system changes arrive, that's for sure.
PS/Off topic: What's the cubic status icon when you incapacitate a mob using Flashfreeze II?
Yeah I know; what I was asking for is what's that exactly? I mean, is it just a red box? Is it... Hmmm... What the hell is that?! :D.
We usually get status icons providing information of the status itself so we are able to know what is happening on the mob even if we don't know which ability was used, but that's not the case for that icon in particular (not for me at least).
It's just a question I've made myself for a long time haha. I know it's a very weird question, stupid indeed... Now I feel myself stupid too :-S
