Chat split on the PS3?

I've been trying to split my chat for a while so that I could have party chat stacked on top of FC chat and not miss a thing, but also not mix them up, but it seems to be something I can't do at all.

I have tried going into mouse mode and doing the drag and drop, as well as actually plugging a mouse onto the PS3 and trying the drag/drop. But neither works.
