Battle Damage
Hello folks,
Let me get right to the point, I would like to know if its possible to implement battle damage to our armor. I think this would add a level of realism to the game, as your durability decreases cracks and holes form in your armor, tears and dirt marks for cloth, etc..
I\\'m interested to know if this is something they could implement, its possible that it might be too much work, and there are flaws, such as how to "damage" a bikini. Still I think it\\'s a great feature that at least deserves to be considered, if I could get a response from the forum staff that\\'d be great but I don\\'t expect miracles.
What do you forum folks think? Possible? Would you like to see battle damage?

I think that's a very nice idea in principle, it would add a good level of realism.
Sadly however, in practice I'd imagine it would require quite a lot of work, as the devs / artists would have to modify the textures and models for pretty much all of the existing and any new armour pieces quite extensively
So it would be nice to have, but probably one of those things that they'd never have the time or resource to do ahead of other updates and such.

The theory may sound simple but execution is hard. Dust and scratches could be shown pretty easy with an overlay added with (If Gear Condition =/< X% then Show Overlay Y) but that would be simple designs like some scuff marks. To do full battle damage would require the modellers to alter the wireframe and textures.

We could have so many beautiful things... but not everyone owns a computer capable of displaying them and the server side is a problem too.
Maybe with DX11 we'll see some neat stuff like that.

Thanks for the feedback, yea I assumed it would be too much to ask from the game, but a guy can hope..
I just think it'd be a nice touch, if our gears gotta break let it "break"
Oh well..

have you seen the details in the avatars or egi's?
this will never happen (even tho its a good idea)

They could make the battle damage start to appear at 50% and lower condition, then make it look really torn up at 25% and lower. A cool aspect of that too, is it would be a very organic and visual way to bring gear condition to a players' attention.
It would be nice, but it would never happen. Too much time and money to make happen, which could be put to use making completely new gear/content. Its a lame answer, but its the true one.

Each item would require multiple models for varying condition to make them not just appear as a general adjustment, so they may not do it.
That being said, I hope they do, would def add a layer of coolness.

That would be cool! The idea of an overlay sounds like it could work, as it wouldn't be adding to the load on the memory since it would be replacing the original display overlay of the armour. Here's hoping!

Considering the amount of fuss generated over something as simple as Miqo'te's butt shape and how it had to be shaved to preserve memory, I doubt you'll see this any time soon.
