RMT and the Market

It's widely known that the market is used by RMT to earn and traffic gil. It's also why RMT teleport hacks are being used all over the world to farm gathering nodes as well as stealing kills on anything that drops crafting materials.

I know no one wants to hear this, but until they solve the problem...they should LOCK the Market. No market means RMT lose huge incentives and resources to do their thing.

If I'm wrong about this making things harder on RMTs please let me know(it's just how I see it) but if you just don't want to lose Market access because you won't be rolling in dough I'm not interested(but feel free to post anyway).

I buy and sell on the market regularly myself so this wouldn't exactly be a cake walk for me either but as a crafter/gatherer it would make acquiring materials from creatures in the world possible w/o having to buy them in the first place.

Well, until they fix the SessionID security hole in the launcher... People get session hacked like crazy. When they fix that and ban/restore all those hacked accounts to their proper owners there is no reliable way to hurt RMT.

Imo they should make the market level 30 instead of 20. Once they fix the sesssion security hole and get rid of all those level 50 rmt's RMT will have to level to 30 to use the Market, which slows them down a great deal. This forces them to have dedicated market accounts and when they get banned they have to relevel to 30. And any accounts interacting with that level 30 will also get banned, that slows them down a lot already.

The reason RMT is so crazy right now is that all you need to hack someone is their Session ID which can be obtained with a java applet people run on Fan Sites not knowing any better (that are RMT sites in disguise).

And I think moving Market up to lvl 30 is a great idea. I know in other games with different mail systems(and slower leveling) putting a lvl cap to mail really slowed them down tremendously.

I wanna know what people think about this.

I think there should be more GMs policing the Zones/Cities. Give people options other than Blacklist to help with reporting RMTs. At least let us jail them until a GM pops up. If they its a legitimate jailing, no repercussions made to the reporting player, if it was trying to be funny jail the reporting player for a day or so. that would keep people from abusing the system. 3 times jailed for "being funny" can be a suspension. Can't report/jail players until level 40+. You can put limits on these kinds of things. As is right now, you can't get a hold of a GM to save your life, and I doubt one has ever been seen...:mad:

Right click ignore/report + more CS/GM staffing. That's the solution and one would think that if there were so many new accounts created that then placed unforeseen stress in the servers, then there was an unforeseen influx of cash ($30 per account) that could be spent on fixing this issue.

Amenian, reread my post. *Report/Jail* Daas understood what was being said, so again reread. You can report a player anytime, but report/jailing is a different story. that is what was typed. Don't attack people on what they say without fully understanding what was said. Reading Comprehension is a Good Thing.

Yes One time password is still secure and can't be brute forced or guessed within any realistic time frame. The only danger is the usual malwares/viruses/keylogers.

See, I wasn't attacking anybody, so calm your tits. I was asking you to take another look at your idea.

I also think giving players the power to jail people, regardless of their level is a bad, bad idea. Punitive action, even arrest, should only be handled by SE. If they don't have enough GMs, hire more, but don't give players that kind of power. It will be abused and any amount of punitive actions for abuse will not prevent it.
